Dhoni was compared as the next Gilchrist after the innings against Pakistan. I hope they got some sense back, that he is just a normal batsman.

Sehwag was a bit normal today.

Agreed.....

Pathetic cricket by India. At one stage they were 75 off 10 overs. It looked like India was gonna win this match easily. I hate this team. How many more finals they're gonna loose.

The top order was good. The fault lies on the lower order, who couldn't finish it.

And actually there is also a fault in the line up. India was pressured in the lost matches by people saying they didn't have a fifth bowler. But in an ODI you don't need a fifth bowler. Everybody team has maximum three or four bowlers in their team.

Pakistan has 3 allrounders (Razzaq, Afridi, Malik) and 3 bowlers to do the bowling job in the ODI's. Australia has four bowlers and 2 or 3 allrounders (Symonds, Clarke and maybe Hussey) to the bowling job.

In short: India was short of one batsman and one allrounder.

Yup one allrounder gives you an extra batsman and an extra bowler. But by allrounder I mean someone who can bat and bowl, and do both well. Not someone who is a batsman who can bowl, or vice-versa. Players like Tendulkar, Sehwag and Pathan fit that category.

just as I predicted....India vs Sri Lanka finals...Sri Lanka wins the cup!

Sad that Sehwag's 21 ball 48 went waste.

Lets hope to win the next tri-series

My prediction..India vs New Zealand finals.
Chances for winning 40-60 for India & New Zealand.

New Zealand are an excellent ODI team, who once again have a lot of quality allrounders. And with Bond back, Martin and Franklyn also in good form, the Black Caps gotta be the clear favourites.

Btw, which is the third team? South Africa?

But these are ODI's. So I expect him to see there. :)

And I just made a thread about the upcoming ODI series in Zimbabwe.

India can't seem to shake the tag of not performing in big matches. Full credit to Murali (2/35 from 10) and (2/38 from 10) Vass though, they are as good a bowling tandem as any in world cricket.

Top effort by Nehra though 6/59 out of 9/281 was an incredible contribution.

India is excatally like my favourite NHL team, the Vancouver Canucks...

-talented, and have potential to dominate games, but just plain choke at the worst possible time. When Dravid and Yuvraj were batting, I thought India is definitly on top, and as soon as Yuvraj left, India all of a sudden panicked...
After Dravid's pathetic run out, India pushed the self destruct button...

I should have seen it comming...

India plays a lot of ODIs, more than any other team.
Its true for both Pakistan and India. Just take a look at the current ICC ODI rankings. Australia, Pakistan and India have the most ODIs since August 2003.
