Personally I think the current set of cricket management games are so poor that I wouldnt want anyone from an existing game to be involved in a new one.

Considering both of them make their games with fairly minimal staff and resources, I think it would be intesting to see what they could do with a full team and Si's backing. Whilst I will happily admit that ICC isn't the best game ever made, it is one of the most addicitive I've ever played.

You know what, there was actually talk of Rockingham software roping in SI help. I think if SI were serious in this and took to the decision to try it out i think Cricket Coach's datebase would be essential. Of course id like to see other attributes added such as Media Confrontation or somthing which says how much the player speaks out in the public

You raise a valid point Puddle. ICC has an almost amateur-ish feel about it but it's one of my all-time most played games. Just imagine what it could do with more behind it.

This is the one area where I feel it's all a bit touch and go. As at the end of the day, cricket doesn't have the same sort of media involvement as football does. Maybe leak an interest in a player, maybe a player would critisise your coaching ability, but in reality it doesn't get much more interesting than that.

I think the key is more in the tactical side, perhaps being able to influence match strategys and plans to a far greater degree, more factors to take into account, like ground sizes, weather, targetting weaker bowlers, looking to build a platform and then hit, or hit to build a platform, etc...

Media involvement only really takes off in international cricket. So I think it's the depth more than anything, more statistics, coaching, youth teams, all that sort of stuff. I suppose players sometimes displaying a desire to move to a different county, more impressive setups, grounds etc to further their international careers for domestic stuff.

That's what I was toying with when I wrote this on the SI forum Puddle;

Something that would need to be compromised with is the Transfer Market. The cricket transfer process is vastly different from it's footballing counterpart so we would have to find some form of idea to cater for it.

But, Cricket is fair big in local newspapers such as Lancashire evening news, or whatever. Somthing SI might want to include is regional paper speculation etc.

For me ICC was a fun game, but very straight and repetitive. The only thing you did was coach, play, coach, play, and if you're in county mode then you get to sign players at the end of the season. The match engine was much better than Cricket Coach's, but at the same time Cricket Coach actually had things that you can do outside the games, so it was quite good in that sense. SI on the other hand would blow Childish Things out of the water and would ensure they actually have to care about their games after they're released. I don't respect them, they make a game and then wait for over a year to bring out an announced patch.
