Jack Teague's Managerial Career - Worksop vs Thurrock [FM 06]

15th July
First day of training! Had to get up to Worksop for around 10 ish so I left at around 7:30 after a few cups of tea and some cereal. Nearly had my lovely Audi in the ditch on the way up after some twat pulled out into the lane without looking into his wing mirriors. Had to slam on the brakes and a few moments of furocious driving to catch back up with the idiot and give him various swearing gestures and loud shouting. After that incident I got up to Worksop at around 9:50 just in time for the first training session. It was good to finally meet the lads and we had a pretty long chat introducing one another and talking about my rules and what I wanted out of the players. So we set off on our training session, starting off with a nice long warm-up consisting of various jogging exercises and stretching. I decided as it was our first training session we would have a mini 5 A-side tournament. I asked Peter, my assistant, to choose the squads and we ended up with 5 sides. We only had 2 keepers so some sides had a outfield player in goal. We had a great time I thought. My two new signings were not able to make it but would be on their way soon. Two players that impressed me were keeper, Adam Sollitt and forward Lee Morris. Overall a great first day with the alds and ready for first match with Watford

Next Day
Not much news only that Russell Cooke, Defensive midfielder, rejected my contract and wished to be able to sign on a part-time contract. This was fine by me and I re-offered a contract. Oh and I had some gorgeous Chinese food.

Next Day (again)
Naff all really. Just awaiting the big game on the 19th against Watford. Oh and a miracle ahs occurred, with Salburg accepting my offer of a free transfer on 40 year old keeper Konrad! I offered him a 1 year contract worth nearly a grand a week. But news had reached me that Salburg had accepted an offer for him from a club called Karnten! Fingers crossed...

Otto Konrad, A absolute quality keeper

Good luck with the keeper deal, it would be a huge boost to the side if you landed such an experienced player for your team.

Nearly had my lovely Audi in the ditch on the way up after some twat pulled out into the lane without looking into his wing mirriors.

Yeah, sorry about that Trev...

What chinese food u ordered Trev :p btw all the best with ur singnups , nice presentation and great story :clap

Good if you get the keeper Trev, very big signing that will be so hopefully you will get him. Don't like Chinese food though Trev, tut tut, you don't eat very well for a footy manager, Greggs and Chinese, not a good combination. Good luck with the story though Trev, keep the good work up.

18th July
Woke up and straight away, jumped in the shower. After a good 20 minutes in there I jumped out, got dressed, and headed downstairs for some breakfast. Thought I'd have some croissants today. After a few croissants and about 1/2 hour watching Sky Sports News I decided I would go for a jog round the block. Need to keep fit, especially as my training techniques envolve myself joining. I feel that it is always better to get close with the lads and join in to see how they work with you watching from the same kind of point of view. Went for a 20 minute jog and then came back to find an answer message on my phone. It was Russell Cooke's agent saying that Russell had accepted the new part-time contract and just needed my final word to finalise the deal. That's another signing sealed and it seems we will have a great side this year! Still no news on Konrad, but I have heard something that was said on Austrian telly. He said he wasn't intrested in coming. Well we shall find out soon. Big day tommorrow. Watford! Should be a great day...

How are those crossos Trev :p do some good jog so that ur players can learn properly ,congrats on getting Russel Cooke , now leave Konard alone why are u pushing him to sign up for ur team as he is not interested .Anyway best of luck for tomorrow , tomorrow is a big day for you ,nice story and great presentatuon Treva:clap

19th July - Match Day
Massive day today! My first game in charge of Worksop Town Football Club and it's against one of the best in England, Watford. I am hoping for a good game played by the lads and hope we can give 'em a match to remember. The game was at home so I packed my stuff and got in the Audi to drive up to Babbage Way. This time I had a bit of Oasis and a old Rock album with lots of rock classics. I arrived at the ground a few hours before kick-off. I met up with Peter and we spoke tactics for a good hour in the dressing room. The lads turned up and I spoke to them Briefly:

"Right lads. First match of the season, and it's a f*****g tough one. I just want you guys to have a right good go and give it your all. Today is the day we get our arse in gear ready for the season. Now quite a few of you will get a go with 11 subs, but If you don't, do not worry. We have 3 friendlies and everyone will have a bash at at least a half of football. So get ready for the massive game, and have a good warm-up!"

The lads warmed up and they looked pretty confident. I saw Watford's team sheet and was not suprised to see who they were playing. A lot of youngsters were picked. Still it was a very strong side, especially comparing it to ours. The lads came back in and before I said anything I just showed them the starting line-up for the game...

The Team

Very good pres Treva. I can't tell what the side is like because I don't know any of the players :p. Love the blackboard idea, though I would have used a different font, less of a script font and more of a handwritten font. Very well done though, loving the story :cheers.

Loving the new style of the stroy.. I guess it will be much harder managing such a lower league club but at the same time it is more unique and challenging thus making it more interesting...

Waiting for the first match to kick off

Chnage ur albums Treva , i thought you will eat something in your car :p as you always have something in ur journies . i love the black board thing ,next time buy a big one so that you can fit ur original formation;) excellent presentaion and best of luck for the match .

Dressing Room
Ok lads. Now I know this is only a friendly, but I want you to give it your best. Imagine it being a FA cup game against Watfrod. Lets catch them on the counter attack and make sure we defend as a team. They will not be playing full strength and nor will they want to win this one as much as us. They will see it as I little friendly and think of it as a training session. Lets prove em wrong. Right, now to the other stuff. Azizzhon, you will be the skipper today. I want you to lead us from the middle of the park. Now I want you guys to man mark and none of this zonal crap. Stick tight to your men and watch out for those lethal inswinging corners. Ok enough of me talking, you guys get out there and show me how to play football!

Kick Off
I wonder wether I'm allowed food on the sidline? Ahh well I could do with a bag of crisps now though. Anyway the game got underway and I decided to leave it off and watch the game from the dug out for the first half. And bloody hell did they come at us. After only 5 minutes Sollitt was called for action. We had a corner and they got it clear. We only had 1 back and it fell to their striker, McNamee. With our men trying to get back and McNamee with no support, he took it out wide right. He waited until there was around 6 players around the box. He laid it off to Chambers on the edge of the area. It bobbled around quite a bit and we managed to push them backwards. It came to Doyley and he took into the box. And placed it across goal for priskin to tap in from 5 yards. Sollitt managed to pull of a fantastic save and kept the ball out. They kept fighting there way into our penalty and in the 19th minute they finally got the breakthrough. Mahon got the ball in his own half and sent a gorgeous pass over the top to Henderson who ran on and slipped it past Sollitt to send them 1 up. But we held them off superbly and thanks to a few huge misses by Priskin, we were only 1-0 down at half time. I made a few changes, Russell Cooke on for Simpkins, Saunders for Morris and Oldham for Chapman. I gave em a little chat how I was very pleased with their performance so far. It must have worked because Immediatley we caught them on the break. Cooke won a tackle on Henderson and it fell to Rose on the half way line. He played it across to Saunders in the middle and he found Thornley free on the wide left. He ran it into the corner and whipped in a great cross. The skipper was on the end of it and somehow he managed to flick it across the goal from 6 yards out, and our best and only chance had gone passed. Then Koshimov got the ball in the middle and took it all the way passed the Watford defence and seemed to be 1 on 1 when DeMerit tripped him and was awarded a freekick on the edge of the area. Hansen stepped up to hit the 25 yarder. He ran up and hit it so sweetly it was unbelieveable. I just remember seeing it head towards that top corner and nestle in the net. I got out of my seat and started jumping and shouting. Hansen came over and said "That good enough boss?" It certainly bloody was! We were now level with a team 4 divisions above us. Things seemed to go quiet from then, until we found ourselves down that left With Thornley on the ball again. He found Saunders in miles of space. I shouted shoot, he tried to find Hansen at the abckpost and Gill managed to turn it behind for a corner. The corner lead to nothing and suddenly we were on the backfoot again. Sollitt pulled off another stunning save flicking over a cross from Spring that was heading for the back of the net. They managed to pile on the pressure with all 3 minutes of stoppage time up. They eeked out a corner thanks to a brilliant slidding takle fro Oldham in our box. I just thought to myself "Watch those inswinging corners like I told you lads." Guess what, Spring swinged the ball in and Davies missed the ball. Blizzard was there to head it in from 4 yards! What a bummer! I was so annoyed that we had worked so hard to get a draw and we lost it in the alst seconds of the game. None the less we had played an absolute blinder and to be honest we deserved a draw. What a great game to start my managerial career...
