Exactly. And it wasn't like in the US either when Bush snuck in with some dodgy Florida votes, Howard had some pretty big election wins and is generally well respected I think. Aussies just got sick of him after a while and he wasn't good at mentioning the buzz words (eg. climate change) and generally sucking up to the public like Mr K.Rudd so people saw him as old and out of touch.
And for those bagging the decision to appoint him, well I can only say - wait and see. I think it could be GOOD to have someone who hasn't been sitting in cricket board meetings all his life and who has no cricket political baggage to carry into the position.

everyone and their uncle would be entitled to say what they like about murali's action, but for a man in his position it was incredibly inappropriate. It struck me as extremely boorish for a world leader and murali was right not to tour. It's not the opinion it's the appropriateness of expressing it.
I liked the person NZ put forward.
