What  where you got this Bomb news ? any link

The ECB have called a press conference for then and there are strong rumours Vaughan will step down. They have been talking about in on Cricket Writers on TV and they are now discussing replacements live from Edgbaston with David Gower, Michael Atherton and Sir Ian Botham.

There is a 'major squad announcement' for 13:00 and it is pretty unanimous that Vaughan's resignation will be that announcement.

Who is expected to fill the shoes then

This is not a good decission, if Vaughan don't play in Ashes, England hardly have any chnaces to bring back the Urn

I think KP is the strongest contender among all.

I hope they don't give it to Strauss. We shouldn't give it to a player who's place in the team isn't ever secure. It'll go straight to Pietersen although I wouldn't rule out the utter stupidity of the selectors to give it to Flintoff again.

What's to say a fresh call up might not get the captaincy? Rob Key perhaps?

Strauss was distraught at losing the captaincy in Brisbane in 2006 and had a nightmare of a series. He guided us to a 2-0 win over Pakistan. Not a mean feat, but I see where you are coming from.

As has been said on TV though, there is no obvious replacement. When Hussain stepped down, Vaughan was the obvious skipper. They must not give it to Pietersen! He doesn't seem captain material to me and I am worried it will affect his batting freedom.

Imagine if the speculation is false, and it is just a squad announcement. :p
