Lack of support behind Sharma's alarming decline

Drop this guy before he is gone case. His head is already swelled up due to his early success and needs some reality check.

Hmm!! With Ishant out of form....India's bowling is looking ordinary. Nehra seems to be doing a decent job but he is not a strike bowler. He can be a support bowler. Praveen Kumar is a good bowler but on flat pitches he will struggle due to lack of pace. Hope the new guy Tyagi gets a chance in the upcoming series.

But great news is Shewag and Yuvi is back. But why did they drop Pathan.....

Irfan Pathan, when he was dropped, got the deserving treatment. His fall has been spectacular. Once upon a time, he was hyped up to be India's next Kapil Dev with his batting and bowling. But in that, he lost his bowling so badly (no swing, no pace) and was confused with advice from every Tom, Dick and Harry in the world. I hope he comes back because he is a very good allround option. He needs to get his bowling back.

I hope so too. Hopefully we'll see him again soon, by T20 WC next year or so but his decline has been truly heart braking. I read somewhere they were interested in Irfan making a come for the Aussie tour but Irfan made himself unavailable.

Ishant is lucky as hell though. Obviously they think Venky was behind Ishant's downfall so far but I don't think so, I just think he sucks and will not find his form back anytime soon in ODI's. Everything rests on India's batting for the Aussie tour, just like it was in CT.

Ishant is really poor for this Indian ODI side from a balance perspective, even if he were bowling well. He can't bowl with the new ball and they don't have an all-rounder, so basically that makes them unable to play two spinners. He's also poor in the field and India have quite a few guys that aren't the greatest anymore so that hurts them, and of course he is unlikely to ever add much with the bat.

Also with his current form he's not going to take wickets in tests either. His problem is relying too much on slower balls and deception, and his pace is down. I think he has picked up a few injuries that we don't really know about, or is tired. His haircut probably hurt him as well.

Ishant is not a poor fielder. He is a decent fielder with a good arm. RP, Munaf and Nehra are far worse. If Ishant is in good form, he can bowl with the new ball. Because he will get back his pace which could cause trouble to the batsmen. If Ishant gets tired so soon, it shows the poor level of fitness he probably has. He hasnt played that much for India and former fast bowlers have gone far more matches without injuries and good sustainable performances.

His haircut hurt him? Thats probably a crazy thought. Yeah you can tell even Dhoni's style changed a lot after his haircut, but thats crazy to combine the two.

Anyone doubting anything about this amazing talent needs to turn on the telly and watch the way he bowled the final over right now. 1 run, 5 dots, 2 Wickets off Over No. 50 !

No ones doubting the talent he has, but bowling three dot balls to Brett Lee is hardly something to be hopeful about.

and you should watch how he was bowling in his first spell ! :sarcasm

I remember in Australia commonwealth bank series 2007-08 he averaged 19 throughout the series and looked very lively. He had a lot of pace back then and was running in with a lot of confidence. I am suprised so many people forgot about that series.

nobodys doubting his talent or his ability. everyone's criticizing the lack of direction given to him !

he should build up some mass(work on his physique), play very less ODIs
and after a year or two....should slowly increase his ODI appearances !

Is Bret Lee is next Bradman?

^^^ Everyone who commented after me...

Guys, he's going through a hard time, much like Warne did with drugs, McGrath did with length, Johnson did with his mother, Huss did with his bat. But I dont understand why are we being so over-critical about the lad.

He's 21. Give him some time. I can't recall any 21 yr old pacer or any cricketer for that matter who was IN FORM all his career. Neither was Donald Bradman, nor Sachin Tendulkar. Neither Wasim Akram, neither Glenn McGrath.

Well at 21 Sachin was legend already. ;)

^^^ He had his share of bad form, buddy. Your wink cannot hide that :)

Remember Sachin being jeered on his ground, from people in his own pavillion in Mumbai in a Test vs Australia a few years back?
