Is it something about being left handed? Is it a mere coincidence?
Orange Cap IPL 1: Shaun Marsh
Purple Cap IPL 1: Sohail Tanvir
Orange Cap IPL 2:
1) Matthew Hayden
2) AB De Villiers
3) Adam Gilchrist
4) JP Duminy
5) Suresh Raina
6) Yuvraj Singh
7) Tilaktaratne Dilshan
8) Kumar Sangakkara
9) Rohit Sharma
10) Sachin Tendulkar
6/10 in the top 10 are lefties and 4/5 in the top 5 are lefties. 5/6 in the top 6 are lefties.
Purple Cap IPL 2:
1) RP Singh
2) Ashish Nehra
3) Lasith Malinga
4) Irfan Pathan
5) Yusuf Abdulla
6) Shane Warne
7) Munaf Patel
8) Lakshmipathy Balaji
9) Pradeep Sangwan
10) Pragyan Ojha
Once again, 6/10 in the top 10 are left armers. 4/5 in the top 5 are left armers.
I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence. It probably is. But it's a pretty interesting coincidence.
To me, left handed batsmen in particular just seem more dominating and powerful (maybe it's psychological). Maybe this helps them in Twenty20 cricket? I don't know. I just thought it was interesting.
