Nottinghamshire were undone by some great bowling for Leicestershires Jim Allenby. Bowling just 10 overs Allenby eventually finished with 5 for 23 dismissing Fleming, Read and Patel who had all passed 50 and Read 100. At one stage it seemed Nottinghamshire were on their way to a big lead however Robinson introduced Allenby who bowled in the right areas and found some seam movement and swing. Kruger was also a handfall bowling good lines and with great pace, he eventually picked up 2 wickets with Swann getting caught at backward square leg and Shreck managing to pick out mid wicket with a poor pull shot.

Bowl-2.jpg

Leicestershire are looking for quick runs and a quick lead. However, Sidebottom has bowled extremely well taking 3 wickets for just 23 runs restricting the extent to which Leicestershire could attack. Things got of to a bad start when Robinson went very first ball shortly followed by Ackerman for 5 runs. However, after rebuilding by Allenby and Sadler Leicestershire were making good progress but then a great delivery from Sidebottom manged to remove Allenby for 21 runs. Currently Leicestershire lead by 59 runs and will be looking for alot more before they consider a declaration.

Leicestershire lost a further 5 wickets in day four before declaring with a lead of 234. This lead was largely down to John Sadler who hit 89 from 140 balls. However after a the top order failed leicestershire relied upon the tailenders to get them up to a competative lead. Luckily Henderson hit 44 from 48 runs and Broad hit a quick 33 from jst 28 balls. For Nottinghamshire Sidebottom showed excellence with the ball taking 7 for 61 ripping his way through the top order giving his team the chance to chase down 234 from a maximum of 60.0 overs.

PARTA.jpg

Leicestershire fought back after a opening stand of 64 to take 4 wickets and reduce Nottinghamshire to 95 for 4 at the tea interval. Broad got the first breakthrough when he found the edge of Wagh flashing blade. Then without adding a run to the score Gallian bottom edge Masters off his first ball leaving the score 64 for 2. Out came Fleming looking to steady the ship but he managed just 4 ball before getting cleared up by Broad. Following this wicket Masters grabbed his second when he trapped Read LBW for 13. With 139 outstanding Notts face a up hill challenge to knock of the remainig runs.

Nottinghamshire added just 103 runs before being bowled out by a strong Leicestershire attack. With 4 wickets down at Tea with 139 still require the task was already difficult but when Husseys stand of 27 ended the game looked lost. With his wicket gone Notts fell apart with Patel clean bowled by Kruger and Ealham edging through to Nixon for 16. With the game almost lost Swann came to crease and he figured attack was the best form of defense and this it was. He blasted 41 from just 28 balls including big hits and fine stroke play pushing Notts closer and closer to the finishing line. However Masters was kept in the attack and finally got the wicket when Swann picked out a diving Broad on the boundary.

Nice win for the Foxes. Annoyed that Gallian got 50, he is probably my most disliked cricketer. After reading KP's book he sounds like an utter plank. Hope he retires soon.

Great update and great story. This is really great work, your scorecards are awesome.

Marvelous work. I would have posted more but I have been busy. I have been following though. I liked the way Wagh contributed 1 in his 50 partnership.
