I've opened this thread for the hugely unappriciated but yet important features of man of the match and man of the series:

The system I have proposed is a system from which points are given for an achievment...e.g. a run, wicket, catch, run out or stumping. Points are deducted for a dropped catch.

The purpose of this thread is for people to propose ideas for which points should be given, or taken, away and how many points should be given or taken for each.

Here is Rabblerouser's attempt + my modifications which shall be used as a base.

ODI

Batting

5 points per run over 15 (Runs = 100 = (100 - 15) x 5 = 425 points)

200 or over = 500 bonus points

2 x SR = points (SR = 100 = 200 points)

Top score in innings = 200 points

Not out at end of innings = +200

Fielding

WK

Per stumping = 150 points

3 stumpings (+50 bonus)

Outfield

Catch = 15 points

3 catches (100 bonus)

1 dropped catch = -20 points

2 dropped catches (-150 bonus)

3 dropped catches (-300 bonus)

ETC...

Per run out = 50 points

Bowling

Per wicket = 100 points

5 wickets (+50 Bonus)

10 wickets (+500 bonus)

Top wicket taker in innings = 200 points

Top wicket taker in match: +200 MORE points

Econ = -100 econ points over 4

...e.g. econ of 2 = -0 points;

econ of 3 = -0 points

econ of 4 = -0 points

econ of 5 = -100 points

Some things to add on/change-

Bowling
Hattrick = +200 Bonus
Batsman/AllRounder/WK Wicket = 100
Tailender wicket = 75

Batting-
Finish Not Out = +50 bonus
Century in both innings = +200 Bonus

i would think you should get 1 point per run and when you get to 50 you get an extra 50 runs, 100 runs extra hundred pointes ect

every milestone, 50,100,150,200,250,300

unless the points are small

i dont really think this is absouloutly vital to the game and i dont think such a complicated system should be used if it delays the games release

Your right...not if it delays the games release...

In this case I agree so much...that I am completely simplifying the system

EDIT: Done now

I think, when we have a basic system in place, we could take real matches, plug in the numbres, find out who our man of the match is and compare it to who we personally think it should be.

i think the econmy rates are wrong.

shouldnt it depend on the total posted and the pitch.

im not quite sure how to adjust it but maybe work out average econmy rate as total runs / total overs rather than an arbietary value of 5. obviously this wont work if all your bowlers bowl badly. cos going at 5 an over might actually be good e.g. SA Vs Aus.

and why isnt there a increase in points for bowling tightly

thats a good idea but some people like me would like to see it after the match has ended instead of quiting the game etc

I think you've misunderstood me. I'm just talking about a way to test the formula(s) to see if they are working correctly, and picking the right player as MOTM. We could do this a few times to fine-tune the formula before its implementation into the game, to make sure its ok. When in the game, it will run normally and tell you at the end of the game.

@ Slade feel free to post ur own suggestion for how economy can work...

Heres an idea:

1 point for 0.01 run per over under
- 1 point for 0.01 run per over over

I like it how the 1st dropped catch is only -20 points. It shouldn't be -100 or something because a fielder can make a spectacular effort just to get a hand onto the ball.

I don't think that would work, but most of it sounds about right.

Well the idea is right, but implementation can only be tweaked if feeded data.
I would say put manee's MOM implementation in game and we tweak it.

These things are generally done at time of beta testing.
