Right, basically us English have to put up with the accident waiting to happen which is Andrew Flintoff as Test Captain. Not only that, but his replacement is out most out of form batsman in Andrew Strauss.

So my question is, is Marcus Trescothick hated by the selectors? He seems to have been forgotten about, despite having a good record as Captain, plus he even performs better as Captain, yet we get Flintoff, I mean what a joke. No other country would over look the best candidate for the media darling, so why do England?

its all because he left the india tour i think

Maybe because there are question marks over his commitment ever since he left the India tour mid-way for somewhat flimsy reasons.

How is that different to players having time off to attend births of their children? He's been carrying England for a year, I'm not surprised the pressure got to him.

I think the biggest reason is the selectors don't see him as a long-term captain, whereas in Flintoff and Strauss they do. Hasn't Trescothick also said he doesn't want the captaincy permanantly? Would back up what I've said.

well this is how i see it, im not exactly sure about the ages and stuff, but arent they looking for someone they can mould into a vaughn follow on? so this was just a trial for some of the people that could do it? im probs way off, but this is just what came to mind

i think they should pick the most attacking one .
So that is Marcus Trescothick for me

i expect its for various reasons , like what has already been said, the leaving of the india tour lookin to the future, and what stevie said tresco has stated once he wont take on captaincy full time.

why did he go home??

He said that after 6 years of non-stop cricket he needed a break and a rest, although I think it's just a smoke screen.

Strauss should be captain, it'd be far to much for Flintoff to do. He's already a key batsman and a strike bowler, being captain as well would put far to much on his shoulders.
