Well, it was obvious after the first innings that the total was way too low to defend. And Leicestershire made light work of Middlesex's miserekt 126.
Early on things were tense, with Tyron Henderson getting the ball to move around and bounce, including one that almost got Boeta Dippenaar on the chest. Dippenaar made 55 not out in the end, and Henderson finished with figures of 7-1-27-0. It was an average performance in the field from Middlesex as well, with catches dropped, 2 by Eoin Morgan.
These dropped catches also brought about the first war of words involving Middlesex players, Adam Gilchrist was not happy with Morgan after his two dropped catches, and according to reports, Morgan supposedly accused Gilchrist of not being worth his salary, which is in excess of 200,000 per month. Captain Andrew Strauss was quick to play things down and he said that we can't believe everything we've been told by the media, and if we did than the world would be in meltdown.
On the other side of things, Ajantha Mendis and Phil Hughes had good matches, Mendis with the only Middlesex wicket, which was incidently caught by Phil Hughes, taking a good catch low down.
Otherwise, it was a poor all-round display from Middlesex, as they slipped to a poor defeat away against Leicestershire.
They will be hoping for a better performance when they take on Warwickshire in a few days time.
