MMA/UFC Thread

Good news. UFC 105, in Manchester will feature Bisping's 2nd knockout of the year. He's facing Wanderlei Silva. Probably be the only fight worth watching on the card. DaMarques Johnson's already penned for a fight against another rubbish fighter, and the rest of the card will more than likely feature Dan Hardy, Ross Pearson, James Wilks and if we're really lucky, Dean Amasinger :D Going to be an awful card, just glad we get to see Wandy handing out a beating =D

Edit: Not actually been confirmed, I read something on MMAF, and then it's listed as one of the fights on Wikipedia, so I just took it as fact. Big mistake, turns out it's still yet to be confirmed. Hopefully it will be confirmed, I'd much rather see that fight than Bisping vs Akiyama/Belcher/whoever else.

Carwin vs Velasquez been scrapped. Carwin will instead main event UFC 106, fighting for the Heavyweight Title against Brock Lesnar :D Shaping up to be a nice card, Lesnar-Carwin, Fitch-Almeida and Ortiz-Coleman already confirmed.

Hatton slagging off Boxing:

RICKY Hatton has launched a stinging attack on the state of boxing - claiming it risks being overtaken by Ultimate Fighting if it doesn't get its act together.

The Hitman believes boxing is becoming a real turn-off for fans, sick of seeing politics get in the way of big fights.

And Hatton, who is now a promoter, believes it is typical of the state of the sport.

"I look at boxing from a different angle now and it is dying a death compared to the fashionable Ultimate Fighting Challenge," he said.

Maybe I wasn't so far off with my thread about Boxing dying? Just a shame he called it 'Ultimate Fighting Challenge'. Obviously a casual fan.

It doesn't surprise me that Hatton says that now he's out. 103 will kick Mayweathers arse mind but Pac-FMJ will do enormous numbers. Sadly it probably won't happen because I see Cotto beating Pacquiao.

Trained for the first time the other day, was quality. Love it.

Andre Winner is fighting at 105, Think Nick (not spelling his second name) is as well. Will probably by my tickets off one of the fighters now, can't wait for it, going to be brilliant. If the rumours of BJ fighting are true I will love it, he's probably my favourite non Brit.

BJ Penn vs Diego Sanchez main event with Bisping vs Denis Kang co-main event. Wilks, Pearson and a load of other TUF guys are on the card. Not bad considering it's free on Spike in the US.

Lesnar vs Carwin at 106 as well I think, with Ortiz-Coleman co-main event. Couture vs Nog on Saturday also, looking forward to that one.

I also don't see how BJ Penn can be your favourite fighter. Sure he's mega talented and is sorting his cardio out, but some of the ridiculously idiotic comments he makes just annoy the hell out of me. Accusing GSP of greasing and not shutting the hell up about it, blaming the defeat entirely on that, when the fact of the matter is he was just outclassed. Then he made comments recently about GSP taking steroids and HGH 'in his opinion', just a twat really. He's still not got the GSP loss out of his system and is still bitching about it. I like him as a fighter, but BJ Penn the person, and the comments he makes annoy me. For the record, Forrest Griffin and GSP are my favourite fighters. Both seriously good fighters, and mega humble and respectful. Forrest is hilarious as well, which helps, I'd love to see him get the LHW title back.

As for Mayweather, the guy's more of a twat than BJ Penn. Some of the comments he's made about MMA are hilariously idiotic. He was bad-mouthing MMA, saying it's for white fat guys who couldn't win at boxing, so decided to make their own sport which relies more on brutality than talent, and that any world class boxer would win the UFC title with ease. He wasn't so damn cocky when Miguel Torres called him out and challenged him to a fight, or when Dana challenged him to a fight with Sean Sherk. Torres even said he'd be willing to do rounds of boxing rules with him first if he had an MMA rules match with him after. That soon shut Mayweather up, and he ran away with his tail between his legs saying he wasn't interested in getting into MMA. What a prick, glad that 103 will out-sell his fight, just to prove that it's not Mayweather that sells PPV's, it's his opponents. I would loved to have seen him get owned in the cage by Miguel Torres.

Seriously, you can't get wound up by Floyd Mayweather, everything he says is a piss take, you have to take it with a pinch of salt and chuckle, just enjoy it, he's obviously deluded so we can laugh rather than take him seriously.

BJ is so good and I like the fact everyone dislikes him, it's those fighters which make the fights interesting. I mean if I didn't hate Lesnar so much then he would be one of my favourites just for the way he pisses everyone off, fights with the whole good guy bad guy angle sell well, that's why Mayweather did so well with DLH and Hatton but won't do against Marquez.

You're exactly the opposite to me then. I like the more humble, downbeat relaxed 'nice-guy' fighters. Forrest fits that perfectly, but so does Anderson Silva, so I was a little torn for that fight, and hence not too disappointed to see Forrest get destroyed. BJ would be one of my favourite fighters if he wasn't such an arse. I prefer Lesnar to Penn tbh. I thought Lesnar was very humble when he won the title from Randy, it's just Mir and the crowd wound him up at 100, amd he was very quick to apoligise for his comments. BJ just continues to talk bollocks.

I watched the last strikeforce event and I was impressed with Gegard Mousasi. The guy is only 24 (I think) and he already has loads of experience and trains with the Red Devil Team (Fedors crew). He took care of Babalu Sobral in 30 seconds without and real problems.

Nog vs Couture was awesome. Nog looked to be back to his best after the staph infection and various injuries before the Mir fight. Would like to see him replace Ben Rothwell and take on Cain Velasquez, with the winner getting the next shot at Brock or Carwin.

BJ vs Diego's been taken from the 105 card and is now being held at 107 iirc. Looking likely that we're going to get a debut for Little Nog headlining 105, not sure who he'll be taking on though. Really wish Bisping hadn't got KTFO by Henderson as we'd have almost certainly have seen Silva vs Bisping for the MW Title at 105. Talking of Hendo, he's reportedly turned down a fight against Nate Marquardt, saying that he deserves a fight against Silva. I'd prefer to see Hendo-Nate tbh, I wanna see Anderson move up to LHW for a while.

Franklin-Belfort's going to be an epic fight in a couple of weeks as well. Really looking forward to that, Swick-Kampmann and Filipovic-Dos Santos. Looks an awesome card, especially with the return of Frank Trigg.

████ card at 105. Only interested in the guys who are there when I go train. Will see about buying tickets next week off someone. 107 is cracking already. 106 as well.

It's not that bad tbh. Looking forward to Bisping vs Kang, Dan Hardy's fight, James Wilks's first official UFC bout and Little Nog's debut if they get it sorted. Interesting to see how Ross Pearson gets on against Aaron Riley as well. Just annoying that the twat DaMarques is getting a go in the UFC, despite being an over-rated knob.

Well I don't know, wins over Wanderlei, Sakuraba and Hendo aren't too shabby.

yea true but that was a few years back.
The UFC light-heavyweight division is stacked with great fighters and now even Anderson Silva is dominating there. He will have to fight some really good fighters to get to Machida.
