Lancashire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Moores as the club's Head Coach on a 3-year contract effective 1st March, 2009.

46-year old Moores, who was born in Macclesfield, has a fantastic track record in county cricket having guided Sussex to their first ever County Championship in 2003, the Second Division County Championship in 2002 and the NCL second division title in 1999.

His achievements as a coach didn't go unnoticed by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), who in 2005 appointed him as the Director of the National Academy, and two years later, the Head Coach of the National team.

As Head Coach of Lancashire, Peter will oversee all day-to-day First Team affairs and coaching duties. His main areas of responsibility will be the performance of the First team and the development of the professional playing staff.

Really happy with this signing, hopefully he can help us win some Trophies this season! :)

Tim Ambrose will be joining Lancs soon then. =) Probably a good choice though tbh, he may be a twat, but I reckon he'll be a decent coach for Lancs, he did well at Sussex, so there's no reason why he can't do it at Lancs.
