anyone remotely interested in games might have seen the 15 min trailer of MGS guns of the patriots, to tell that it is gonna be one wicked game ever

By the way, the new Nintendo Wii is releasing for only $230 which is a mere ?130 in the UK. I'll probably be buying that.

That is pretty cheap for a new gaming console, and it'll be running games from a variety of classic consoles. So it could be a good investment ...

I may buy it, I may not. I'd only buy it for the games which fully use the Wii's abilities to have so much fun.

These are the ones that I'm keeping an eye on:

Super Monkey Ball
A few of the Mario ones
Maybe some others

But apart from that the Wii will probably be a 'Party' console anyway - with no serious game like Fifa on it.

u can add metal gear to the list too.

and secondly, wii is no comparison too biggies, as its target audience is not similar to biggies.

it has resulted in low costs of the platform

You can buy an Xbox 360 for the more serious, FPS, RPG and sports titles, and a Nintendo Wii for the arcadey, fun multiplayer games. Both specialised in each categories, and both together cost less than PS3 !!

but my dear ps3 doubles up as a blu ray player and the first standalone blu ray players will cost anywhere betn 800-1000 $

I would say HowzatCricket, The Cricket project, and ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 (game by codies).

even if blu ray players get around 500$ by nov17 (ps3 launch date) which i highly doubt, the ps3 is still a gizmo mainly used for gaming with blu ray as a compliment

Ps3 is definately not worth getting, especially for the requirement of a HDTV for good graphics but Wii is definately worth getting for its price.

I agree with Gilly, the PS3 is just too expensive - it's sales will boost when it's prices go down to about $350, Blu-Ray players will not take off in the next 5 years as they are too expensive.

you can always use your pc monitor

That's just one of the problems...There's no telling if it will be worth the money or how much the games will be.

Wii will be probably half the price of the Ps3 and the games will actually be affordable.
