I bought NCAA10, anyone else have it? Mac you should get it bro, we'll play online

What do you play on? 360 or PS3?

I just got a 360. Am still looking into getting Madden 11. Prices are still a bit steep at the moment. Is NCAA 10 better?

I play on ps3.

I like college football so NCAA is better for me. It has hundreds of teams and a great dynasty mode with lots of recruiting.

Madden generally have better graphics and commentary etc but I'm all about college football.

NCAA doesn't have real names either, right?

I'd be interested in doing dynasty but I'd have to start with Rice and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have an accurate roster. As long as they have McGuffie I may be okay. :D

The rosters are accurate and so are the players stats, down to each players 40 yard time. It's just no names :( The numbers are correct though and you can always download name patches, at least on ps3.

My fav of all time was NCAA06, Vince was like a God on there, break 3-4 tackles each run

Hmm, that makes it more enticing. Name patches could probably work, but I guess the announcers will never use names, which is kinda annoying. I think the NCAA is pretty dumb with those rules. Colleges like UT make over a $100m a year in revenue just from football. When there's that much money involved, I don't know how you can pull off crap like player licensing to keep the athletes "amateur".

lol because it's college, its a university. They are there to get degrees first and play football second. 99% of NCAA athletes do not play professional sports. It's just the football programs that makes a lot of money, and that is invested back into the school.

I think it's a damn good thing the players don't get paid, they get full scholarships to Universities, that is more than enough. It's not a commercial entity from the players point of view and it never will be. That goes against everything what college athletics stands for.

Where did I say they should get paid?

I said that using things like names and likenesses should be allowed without the players having to be treated as professional athletes. The argument that you can't make money off the players is silly given how much money is being made in revenues from things such as broadcast rights, season ticket sales, etc. That money wouldn't be made if it weren't for the players. Athletes should be able to maintain amateur status and have their name appear in a video game.

I would think most football programs invest their money into their coaching staff and facilities rather than investing it back into the university. Universities tend to have endowments separate from their athletics budget. Rice, for example, has endowments from historical investments as well as donations from alumni. As an alumnus, I can categorically choose to donate to something, such as the football program. I think it was TCU that a few years ago had a few wealthy alums donate to the football program which resulted in a sudden splurge in facilities expenditure, which (not coincidentally) lead to their team getting really good.

It may be different at UT, which has by far the highest revenues of any other school, but I think in most cases the university budget contributes to the athletics budget, which in turn contributes to the football budget, not the other way around.

yea UT might be different cause it's one of the most valuable franchises but most of our athetic money goes to (after Mac Brown and stadium etc) to scholarship funds, granted they are mostly athletic scholarships.

But you can't use someone's name in a product and not pay them. So it's never going to happen. It's really not that big a deal though, especially cause all the player numbers and stats are dead on correct.

The game also feels less arcadey than Madden, and you can bust big runs in it. I really like the option play, and there are hundreds of crazy running plays in NCAA, you just don't find that in NFL, defense is too quick.

Also in NCAA games you can get that "man amongst boys" super player everyonce in a while, Cam Newton on NCAA10 is a beast.
