I took a look at the EA cricket 2004 page on their website.

It says that pitch wear during a test match makes a huge difference in gameplay. I havent noticed any at all. Suely if it rains the pitch will change condition e.g. spin more.

have any of u noticed pitch wear?

yeah, it is really hard to play a test match on the wet pitch.

thats not what he asked!

well there wont be any visible change in the pitch appearance, but you must have noticed that the specialist spinners are able to turn the ball a lot more on day 4 or day 5. Also if you go to conditions, you will see the condition of both the pitch and ball at that moment of time.

If you play on a green wicket, then you can pickup a lot of wickets on the first day, and much less on day 2 onwards.

m_vaughan is right as if you look at the conditions, the icon which shows how many days have been played, on the first day it will be flat but on day four the icon will look uneven and this suggest it will be good for spinners.

yeah i can notice it, its not guge but its there, would be nicer to see the pitch wearing as the days progressed

The pitch bounce gets lower after each day, try bowling bouncers on a normal pitch on day 5, most of the time they only reach bail height

Yeah true, although I wish they could show the wear and tear graphically. (eg. cracks and foot marks etc.)
The small mountains of saw dust for wet and damp pitches were horrible also.

i had cricket 2002 on ps2 and i remember on about the 4th day foot holes would appear but you dont get this in c2004

Shailesh once posted all the offsets of the pitch .bmp files; if they were incorporated into the cfg editor all it would need is one of those talented graphics editing ppl to knock up a few 'worn' looking pitches and we could easily install them at the start of each day.
A pain that it's not done automatically by the game, but it would be something.

LOL, EA Sports has yet again slacked off. :)

Whilst playing my test between Sri Lanka and England on a hard pitch i realised that there was no turn what so ever for giles so i looked carefually at the pitch and you can spot darker areas around so as a experiment i bowled one on the light areas and one on the dark. The one on the light didn't turn but the one of the dark turned quite abit, it will be intresting to see if this spin increases.
