I guess i'll start using this thread. Maybe weekly updates or so.
Tamil Nadu's Murali Vijay and Dinesh Karthik racked up the runs to help Tamil Nadu secure a huge win over Punjab in the Super League. Vijay scored 148, Karthik 117 and Abhinav Mukund chipped in with a useful 61 as TN's 521/9 was too much for Punjab as they sunk to an innings defeat.
Big Chet is Back
Cheteshwar Pujara played his first professional game in six months... and scores a double hundred. Ravinder Jadeja too scored 122 as Saurashra coasted past Maharashtra.
'Chota Dada' Manoj Tiwary rose up to the occasion against Karnataka with two important half centuries - 78 and 65 not out - as he saw Bengal to a draw. Trailing by 199 runs and with a day to bat out, Tiwary partnered with senior Deep Dasgupta to see Bengal home.
What the Indian team is disparately looking for at the moment is a quality fast bowling option. The solution may lie in young Vinay Kumar from Karnataka. Vinay is currently topping the bowling charts early this season with 19 wickets at an average of just 18. With Harbhajan Singh's and Amit Mishra's disappointing performances in the last game against Sri Lanka, the Indian selectors may also look at young Praghyan Ojha, who is currently with the squad. In two games, Ojha has snapped up 10 wickets at an impressive average of 26, with a five wicket haul already under his belt.
RP Singh, supposedly one of MS Dhoni's favorite bowlers, has been struggling in the domestic circuit thus far. RP is averaging close to 50 for his 7 wickets in three matches. This is not news for most Indian fans as he has had disappointing stats similar to this as he has never been as potent in tough conditions.
Mumbai secured a dramatic win against Himachal Pradesh after being bowled out for a partly 162 in their first innings. HP needed 248 to win on the final day but fell 85 runs short as Iqbal Abdulla took 7 wickets in the match to secure the win.
But it was not a happy tale for the Mumbai fringe players. Rahane was out for just 3 in the first innings and failed to capitalize on a start in the second, after reaching his 50. It was a similar story for Jaffer, who was out for a duck and only managed 54 second time around, when his team really needed him to push on.
The middle order really failed. Rohit Sharma managed only partly scores of 22 and 19, while Nayar scored 16 and was out for a duck in the second. He did not pick up a wicket in the game either.
Ajit Agarkar bailed Mumbai out with his first Ranji hundred. His batting took the lead past what Himachal could manage. With the ball, though, he wasn't as effective, and only picked up one wicket with the new ball.
