Review Playtest Review/Preview(Review Links, Updated in First Post)

My biggest concern is the ability to bowl the same delivery over and over again. If the lads from Transmission are reading then hopefully they have somehow dealt with this as this one factor will kill any fun in online games as people with either constantly bowl yorkers or balls with are impossible to score off every time.

Also the constant cut shot for six which hasn't apparently been dealt with is another let down. But apart from that im quite looking forward to the game.

Shame i didn't get invited to go playtest the game since I've been to Transmissions office before (previously known as IR Gurus) to test out the old AFL games, would of been amazing! Oh well maybe next time!

That's why I would've liked some sort of wobbly cursor, so it would be harder to plonk the ball exactly where you want. Also, I don't know if you guys are still in contact with Transmissions, but may I request that you ask that they allow all difficulty levels in the demo, so we can see for ourselves how hard (or easy) we can make the game? Without this, I would be more likely to wait for favourable reviews before buying the game, and I'm sure many others would agree. If all difficulties are included however and I like the game, I'd probably pre-orders it.

Edit: Don't like the sound of this 'constant cut shot for six'. This is the sort of thing you have to remove, devs. Either now, or if it's too late, in a patch. We don't want any easy ways out, or balls that are guaranteed to take a wicket. Saying 'well, don't bowl there then' holds no water for me at all.

wtv man, am starting to lose interest in this ████. it's summer vacation. i'm not going to have as much time to play it once school starts.

School? School? Wait until you get a real job and some life-altering responsibilities, and you won't have time to scratch yourself.

I have a question. Will you be able to create yourself and put yourself in the ashes squad?

Believe me life does get complicated once you in the real world. :)

I'd say "Is TAOC worried?" LM has been trying for so long to create a gun cricket game and now it looks like we're very close to getting what we want in a cricket game and all his hard work may go to waste.

hehe, thought i should chime in my 2c...

Well, got to say it sounds really positive so far. I'm certainly not 'worried' as such, lol. Remember, the whole reason i began TAOC in the first place was because of a lack of great cricket game out there. If Ashes 09 happens to be the best thing since sliced bread then i'll be the first one cheering ;)

But as always, i'll reserve my judgement until i play it for myself. I've learnt over the years not to ever get my hopes up. WHM and Tom are 2 of the harshest critics i know and the fact they are giving such booming praise (by their standards hehe) is certainly promising.

Would TAOC be abandoned? Well, cannot say....would certainly be a shame to be made redundant, but as i said, i just want a great, realistic cricket sim to play. If Ashes 09 can give me everything i ever wanted in a cricket game then there may well not be much point in continuing. But i'll cross that bridge when i come to it. There's also nothing wrong with healthy competition too... ;)

Anyways, didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything, just thought i'd throw it in there...

But im pretty excited, just hope it lives up to the hype!

Inevitably people will be unhappy with Ashes Cricket, demand more features etc. The really positive part about TAOC is that you control the gameplay and features based on user feedback without having to wait 2 years between release and pitch it to the marketing department.

It's human nature to never be completely satisfied; there will always be a few people who don't like the game.

It's bound to happen but this is the first game i am really looking forward to play after all the playtest review. It may turn out to be bad, but coddies/transmissions have tried honest attmept to the game. Let see what happens.

I'm actually looking more towards Ashes Cricket 2011, that will be a really good game if they take on the feedback they'll get this year. Plus it will be released in November when it's cold and dark here, a real winter warmer!

AC2011 would be an awsome game unless codies/transmission decide not to listen to the feedback what it gets from AC2009.

Always thought that there should be some sort of modifier programmed in that means if you bowl deliveries (i.e yorkers) continuously to the same batsman that each consecutive ball becomes much easier to hit/more forgiving when the batsman plays an aggresive shot to it - that would solve that problem.....
