Prince Of Kolkata Set To Retire

I'm sure he will make it 7000 runs. Finally the oldies are heading off one by one, I hope Sachin's day never comes

Don't worry.The master will never retire.:p

This is very sad. Many people are actually happy, but I am not one of them.I really think the so called 'senior members' of Indian cricket were doing really well.I don't mean to say that youngtsers should not get a chance but a team should comprise of youthful as well as mature cricketers.

Also my the sig I created few days back is wasted.

About time he did too. Been playing too long and was in jeopardy of ruining his reputation.

This guy suffered a lot still he had faith he comes scores, at a average of more than 42+ and still selectors ignores it.. we presently have a great combination of Seniors and Youngsters at least not like Aussie where half the dozen are 30+ ;)

Sourav da was is and will be a Legend for me. Sachin, Sourav then the rest Sir Don,Warne, etc..

Best of luck for the future Sir.You did a great work the past years and you will be always a role model for many..:hpraise:clap

A very sad day for me especially. Sourav Ganguly was my role model when I was growing up.

Being a left handed - opening batsman and a right handed medium pacer was one thing that I shared in common with him, and from Dada I learned to never back down and to be determined at everything I do.

Team India was in tatters at the time he got captaincy. The match fixing scandals left the country heartbroken - needing someone to look up to.

Enter Sourav Ganguly, the master of the off side and the premiere captain India has ever produced. He rose up from that challenge, blooded youth, won the Natwest Trophy and later got a hapless team India to the finals of the world cup.

Even recently, his performances have been awesome. After his comeback last year, Ganguly looked more run hungry then ever. He asserted his 'second debut' with a blistering 90 and a fantastic catch to top it off. Since then, runs came at a frequent pace for Ganguly. He had a good tour of England and an absolutely fantastic one of Pakistan (241 and 70, anyone?)

What a career, Sourav. Your poster hangs on my wall, and it has been amazing watching you play cricket over the last 13 years. Thanks.

Class player, bit of a knob like but guess you can be when you're that good. Anyway whoever comes in his place should have a nice easy start to their career against England :p

Damn you stupid Indian Media! Always critisizing him, always picking on Saurav!

God bless Saurav Chandidas Ganguly. I will always miss that shot where he looks likes he's playing a defensive shot on the font foot with his bat faving towards cover and it just bullets away to the extra cover boundary. Also the legendary cut shot through gully.

All bow down to the one and only DADA :hpraise

Not only media its the BCCI and its Maharashtrian politics. Does the media have the guts or BCCI to ask the retirement of Tendulkar? BCCI and the Maharashtrian people (most) are so corrupted and biased. During the team selection we see whole of Maharastrian palyers like there is only 1 state in this Country  like take an example Gony and other players get chance top play for India or to play in Board Presidient and all. What about Laxmiratan shukla, Dinda ,Wriddhiman Saha and Manoj Tiwary and Ranadeb Bose. Tiwary though got chance in Aus (when Team India was in pressure) BCC thought to make this Tiwary a scapegoat. Gony got chance to play for India during Kitply cup. Its a total politics against Bengal .

Ganguly should've taken time and retired after England Test Series because I doubt He'll get much runs against the Aussies

I hate when people pre judge. I mean comeon this is his last series and still people are thinking negative about him. :mad

i am sure he ll go out in style...he was the best indian captain...all the best to him for his future.

If he doesn't make the 7000 runs, I'm sure the crowd will have a say before the Dada is sent off ;). Either way the Aussies are screwed, I can't wait for the series to start :happy

Salutes to the great legend, Ganguly. I am a big fan of him (of him in his hey days!). Recently I wanted him out because youngsters needed to be given the chance, but I will always remain a big admirer of this amazing fighter of a person. He changed Indian cricket in a way that we started being respected across the world as a team that could give it back in full measure. I still remember that moment in the Kolkatta test 2001 after India won, when Ganguly gave the victory shout especially when the camera was facing him. THAT WAS CLASSIC!

One of the best captains in the world, and the best ever Indian captain
