Hi all! Has anyone here got Rainbow Six Vegas on PC? What's it like and how long is it (you know me, I like my games long, even if they are cheap)?

Same questions apply to Quake 4, I'd imagine that game has more variety?

Thanks in advance for any replies. :)

Woah that's weird, I bought Ranibow Six Vegas earlier today. It's class as well. I'd go for Rainbow Six.

Tough call mate, Tough call, both can be so addicting..

You talking about the first vegas? If you are then go for it if you've never played it before. Although if you are going for a team leader style special forces game take a look at an old classic SWAT 4 (2005) and the expansion SWAT 4 Sketchov Syndicate (2006). Rainbow Six just reminded me of that game whilst not being better than it. Can't really comment on Quake 4, sorry.

EDIT - Just had a quick look and it seems most stores don't stock this game anymore however, you can get it here for just over a £5er including postage!

One guy's review includes this:
Sometimes this game gets compared to Rainbow Six, but it's actually nothing like it, Rainbow six is shoot first and ask questions later and run through the map in a linear path kind of game, with SWAT you take whatever path you see best, and you have to follow Police procedure, you cannot shoot an armed suspect unless he is about to fire upon you, your team or a hostage/civilian, that is part of what makes this game great, if an armed suspect appears, all you can do is yell at him to comply and put down his weapon, if he wants to run away there's not a thing you can do to stop him immediately, suspects therefore have been programmed to be very unpredictable, some will give in instantly and drop their weapons, others will open fire, or some will run away, even hostages can be unpredictable, some will obey orders and drop to their knees hands in the air, others will refuse, again there's nothing you can do with your firearms to make them comply, this is where further skill comes in, you can use pepper spay and squirt it into their eyes, or stun them with a taser gun, or throw a cannister of CS gas near them.

Thanks, played SWAT 4 ages ago, good game. I've ordered Rainbow Six Vegas for ?5 from gameplay.co.uk, should be here later in the week.

Vegas arrived today, looks nice so far. I've just been messing around with Terrorist Hunt to start with, save the story for later. For some reason, it's saying that my processor doesn't meet the minimum requirements, so I suppose that means I'll be getting some dual core issues. Also, I can't run it in my monitor's resolution, so some stuff is being cut off the edges of the screen. I've found many patches, ranging from 232mb to 32mb, which one do I really need?

read the patch notes before downloading any. try searching the patch notes for your problem or a problem very similar to you :)

I was lucky, the latest patch was on a PC Gamer disc! Lucky I keep them all in a folder.

I've finally gotten into it, after playing Terrorist Hunt first, I was disappointed with the AI. Example: You can see a body at the corner, so a couple of your men run towards it and get shot. Are you also going to suicidally approach the growing pile of bodies? No. I know Terrorist Hunt is aimed at online play, but it wouldn't hurt to include some decent AI for singleplayer, so there's something to do once you've finished the story mode.

Thankfully, in the game proper, the AI is superb. I love the firefights in this game. The one thing I'd say is, if the tangos appeared in random locations like with Swat 4, this game would be even better. Is there a mod to make that happen? If Vegas 2 is as good as this, I'll be getting that when I've finished with this!

Vegas 2 isn't much better tbh. Updated graphics, fair bit of customization and thats about it. Online is really good (Co-Op or T Hunt with mates is pure win) as usual. Deffinately get it especially if you can get it cheap like udner ?20.

Well, I only spent ?5 on this game. Possibly the best ?5 I've ever spent. I wish the earlier Rainbow games were as much fun as this!

I'm a little confused as to why they set the 2nd game in Vegas as well, surely they've done all they can in the first game with that setting? I'd like to see the next Rainbow Six game keep the same gameplay style, but include more varied terrorist threats over many locations.
