Guys, I have my XIth Physics practicals tomorrow. I'm quite set for them. I don't know one experiment as I didn't attend it. :p

The experiment is:

To determine the refractive index of a material of a prism by deviation curve method.

I've searched Youtube, Googled it, etc., but couldn't get a nice video solution for it.
All I get are small explanations, which are going above my head.

Can anyone link a video tutorial here if available anywhere on the net
OR
Can anyone please explain the experiment to me in complete detail

I've read the procedure, precautions, also seen the calculation table, but, I am not understanding the method at all. :doh

A video tutorial will certainly be the best option.

Thanks in advance.

Your obviously not set for any English exams :p

LOL....Bad joke!
Anyways, does anyone have a solution to it!

I need to study.

Yudi added 3 Minutes and 48 Seconds later...

And thanks for pointing out the spelling error.
I was in a hurry then :)

If I'm right, you basically need to reduce the velocity wave within an object, by increasing it first.

Ask Zorax or something, he's good at physics.

No mate. It's not related to that.

The experiment I am doing is something else. I hope the formula helps you to understand it better:

u = sin[(A+dm)/2)]
____________
sin (A/2)

u: RI
A: refracting angle of prism
dm: angle of minimum deviation

Look each one up individually, and try to come to a conclusion.

Thanks a lot for that sid.
But my practs are over, nonetheless, I appreciate your help.

Luckily, I didn't get this one to perform in the exam.

The two experiments I got were of travelling microscope and micrometer screw gauge.
Both were a walk in the park for me. :D
