Rickyp Dissapointed with contribution of Members

A - This isnt realistic, it isnt done for seasons in real life in domestic, only international.
B - This will be done, ill discuss it with Ste
C - We already do that
D - We are going to do country of origin
E - That doesnt really apply here....

For point A, i mean like real international tournaments. I think it will be more fun than the seasons.

Hmm, I guess that's plausible. I guess if you can get enough excitement generated and can stimulate managers to take on a lot of responsibility, you can have managers take on squads of 20-30 players, simulate domestic competitions, and select players based on those 'domestic' performances. I know if there was that much work involved, I would relinquish my managerial position like I had just picked up an over-excited jellyfish.

Dont kill off this season. At the same time, there is no reason for 4 dayers to actually take four days. I agree with sohummisra that we should have designated match days, and I think we should do the season a little like the aussie domestic season, ie, play a four dayer and a one dayer against the same team on consecutive days. So, for example:

Monday: ICC vs Bitters 4 dayer
Tuesday: ICC vs Bitters 1 dayer

Friday (of the same week as above): ICC vs PC Rockers 4 dayer
Saturday: ICC vs PC Rockers 1 dayer

Since we have six teams at the moment, that would mean each team plays two First class, and two One day matches every week, and if each team plays the others home and away once, then a season will last for 5 weeks, and have a continuous, regular flow to it.

My suggestion therefore to prevent delays is to have a deadline time, in the timezone you are in Rickyp (which is AEST right?), and make sure each manager knows when this is, and what it is relative to their timezone. For example, the deadline might be 11.59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (Universal +10) of the day before, and if that deadline is missed, you are free to sim the match anyway.

To do this, each manager should have a default test and one day team posted in their thread, or sent to Rickyp, and if the manager misses the deadline, then Rickyp can use that default team. If a different team is to be used, it must be posted in the match thread before the deadline, and managers are responsible for doing this.

In case you are unavailable to sim a match Rickyp, then you should have a preassigned deputy who will do so, and let them know when they will need to do so (perhaps, if you cant let them know, they can sim it the next day, if they dont hear from you and its not done, as a last resort). In any case, no match should be simmed later than a day after it is supposed to take place, so that things dont get behind.

I think those suggestions make sense. If we have more teams, then the season could extend in length, and likewise, it wouldnt be too long to wait for people who wanted to join the competition. (Perhaps a separate thread could be maintained during each season where interested players and/or managers could register, and then be drafted into a team, or draft a team at the culmination of that current season. Similarly, players in each team should have to re register themselves every season, so that there are no disinterested deadweights in any team.

A final thing to make it interesting, any continuing players should be able to keep their stats through the seasons, which would gradually give a predisposed weighting to the competition, and would present challenges to continue the interest for current players etc.

propmanoz, if you can draw a fixture up for me id love to use it next season. What does everyone think about first class matches taking up 1 day though

maybe you could appoint a board of simmers/officials, like umpires they are scheduled to sim different matches so you could have one simmer/official per match

and if its not to far fetched have managers propose certain tours to this same board and have an organised competition like the ICC is to cricket now
they could give schedules and take in ideas for future tours.

like i said IF its not to far fetched

its a good idea no remorse its just if we were to make a board, we would have only posters being from the board, as there are not enough current posters. In a few seasons though definently

I dont think the actual 4 day games should really be spread over 4 days, you could simulate them and post them within a day to speed things up.

I know I havent posted much but I do keep an eye on all the fixtures and results and agree with what your saying, I know what its like when people join up to something and then think thats their part done as some people have done that with my Battrick tournament, but you just got to keep going with it, as long as people are replying then their is no reason to stop it as its still drawing out interest.

Sorry boys, I was stranded with only a dial-up since I've changed my ISP. Now that I m back so you will see my contribution here.

As its been stated before i won't drag on about it again, the games are far to spread out to keep people interested. If you can make more games in the season and a lot closer together you will keep things interesting, consistancy is the key, something needs to happen most days of the week...... When games start late (days latter) or results take a while to be posted people loose interest. I stopped checking what was happening a couple of weeks ago as nothing at all was happening....

Im back from holiday so look for some contribution

I also have to agree with most of the points above about 4-dayers and extra teams
