This story will be a Soccer story. Coming through the ranks for Melbourne Victory and being picked up for the World Cup in Germany in 2007 for the Socceroos. Join me and my journey, with a journal about my experience and my own stats
My Way to the Big league
After a good season with Melbourne Victory, after playing through the midfield, and setting up many goals for players like Archie Thompson in our games, i was happy with the season end. We won the Cup against Adelaide FC, with a 3-2 win against them, i was certain that we "Melbourne Victory" would be a good side for the next few years. 06 was my first year at the game, and we have already won a premiership, and i played all my games for Melobunre, but little did i know, that the big suprise would come at season end.
Australia was on its way to Germany for the 2007 World Cup, and they were looking through the ranks for their squad. My team-mate Archie Thompson was picked up, and no suprise there with the great season that he produced, kicking over 20 goals in 10 games for us. But the real shock was that my name was called out to travel with the sqaud. Hayden Sumner was called out at the Crown Casino for the revealing of the Team in Melbourne, i was sitting in the crowd of around 20 thousand players that would of had a chance of making the side, but i was only there to go along with Thompson, but my name was called out, in the last postion of the team. I am a 186 cm midfielder who is quick of the mark, a right footer, who likes to spend time in the goals. I can contribute at goals if needed, but people say that my crossing is the more important part of my game. Hayden Sumner was called up, i seriously nearly had a heart attack, i wasnt expecting my name to be called what so ever. The crowd started to clap as alot of them wouldnt know who i am, as i am new to the game. I just wonder why i was picked, and excited that i am on my way to Germany for the World Cup.
