Match venue

A-Field Stadium, Liverpool.

Pitch

A lot of movement on offer, which makes it ideal for pace and swing bowlers. Teams bowling first are likely to hold the advantage.

Lineup rules & guidelines

- No more than two star players per XI.
- A capable wicket-keeper (:wk:/:wkb:) must feature in the XI.
- Try marking 6 bowlers in your XI, so a non-bowler doesn't come on and potentially cost you the match.
- The country flags on this forum look pretty. Try using them while posting your lineups if possible.

We're undefeated at home in this competition so hopefully we can keep this record going. Despite struggling in FC, Punani has been solid and will be looking to continue his good form, whereas at the opposite end of the spectrum, Johnston has been outstanding with both bat and ball in the FC format, yet has really struggled to make an impact in the one-dayers. He'll be hoping he can make his mark and find some rhythm.

Come on lads :clap @NineDragons, lets be a bit more vocal.

We fought so hard in the last game let’s take the disappointment of the close defeat and go out there with positive intent…

Well yes it is going against the tradition but we have to adapt to survive.

One problem we have is we don’t have many active members in the squad so we usually have to work more than teams like Landscape to be heard.

I'd rather by quiet but successful rather than be like the Amigos and make lots of noise while always losing ;)

Since @The Author is busy I thought I ought to post the team:

Nick Agger
Varun Rustagi :wk:
Khurram Khan :bwl:
Misbah ul-Haq
Paul Nugent-Hopkins
Michael Ng
Svenke Ulberg :bwl:
Rick Adams :bwl:
Ern Shylock :bwl: :c:
Kai Winch :bwl:
Alexander McKenzie :bwl:

Its the same side that played in the last few games with one change: Blitzberg out since he's not had a great run in List A games, in comes @MrNginator who's making his list A debut. Ideally I'd like to have brought Hogg in for my player; but our best two batsmen are our two star players both averaging near 60 so that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do. @The Author has a right to change this if he wishes; I think that its a good enough team though!

That was well recovered; but still we need to ask questions about our top order... I'm not that confident; its certainly defendable if we bowl well but I think that we could be a little short

Maybe Author can dip into the finances at the end of the season? The team could do with an all-rounder that bowls medium fast so that we are not always reliant on spin and we face different pitch conditions that could work against us also there would be more options for you in selection.

List A

I would open with Svenke Ulberg and Varun Rustagi. Svenke is a valuable player and is way down the order. NG has been quality with the bat and I would make him a number 3 batsman plus he is active. I could slot in at number 4. Misbah could be a safety net at 5 in case we have a collapse and he is a star player and it’s more about the members than anything.

Not trying to be critical or I hope this hasn’t come across as that or me claiming I know best, because I don’t. You have led us to the top of the Raji so great captaincy and well done :) but it’s the limited overs where we are suffering.

This will a testing score to defend with Slipperpool leading the way in this format but if we can dry up the runs who knows we have a good chance.

Top order is concerning, however we did save it thanks to the lower order and the partnership between me and Svenke Ulberg really saved the innings.

Despite bowling well for the majority of the match, we let ourselves down in the final 10 overs, which let the Dragons off the hook and has allowed them to finish with a very decent total. It's a shame because it's slightly overshadowed some very good bowling performances and Ali Ajaz yet again tied up an end, on a wicket that is not conducive to spin.

Personally, I'm slightly worried about the score, as we chased down 270 before on this wicket, but it went to the final ball of the match. We've shown on more than one occasion that we can deal with pressure situations, so once again we're going to have to call upon our infamous "character". UTS!!!

Not an easy target to chase but still our batsmen can do it.
