For him, winning the World Cup while he plays for India is a huge dream. And the guy has achieved everything else, and he should try to achieve this one also.

Yea I guess he is pretty much obligated to play ODIs for that reason. Which is a shame because if he retires from ODIs now he can easily extend his Test career past 2011.

But wouldnt being a part of a World Cup winning team be a bigger reward than having 50 test centuries to your name? I guess a lot of cricketers would trade a World Cup win for a mere statistical record. You cant imagine the reaction in India if we win the World Cup 2011 and that too with Sachin being part of the team. For Indian fans, 2011 WC is going to be more about Sachin and if he can make that final hurrah for India.

ODI's and T20's are more about batting, and with the kind of batting we have, we have a chance. Also, Zaheer Khan is a good bowler in all formats, and Praveen Kumar is proving to be a wily customer for us on subcontinent wickets (where the WC is going to be held). If we can sort out the third seamer between Ishant, Sreesanth, Irfan and Nehra, we will definitely have a good enough attack.

the guy who started the thread is not wrong he can play t20 internationals as you can play around 16 domestic t20 why not 5 to 7 int t20.
he looks fitter then ever.

So that bowling combination is going to win WC for us? Unless they(excluding Zaheer) learn and understand the first step basics/terms - tight wicket-wicket line, yorker, block holes, surprising bouncer etc.., it's not going to happen. To my eyes, they just simply run and deliver it to other end which anyone can do. :banana2 Believe me, my club members can bowl better with sense than the bolded ones.

Anyways to the topic : Tendulkar should not play in T20s. I know he enjoys cricket to the core but his body needs rest and it is needed for his ownself to conserve for his upcoming ODIs/Tests.

I don't think he retired. Though I am not sure, I always thought that it was Tendulkar who came upfront & expressed his desire in not to play T20s.
