Six boards reject John Howard for ICC role

I thought it was NZ and Australia's turn to pick the vice president or something?
According to Mark Richardson we were bullied out of it by the BCCI who basically pick and choose which rules they follow.

But then he's done good to, playing a role in the Tsunami Appeal game.
So what? That doesn't make him a better person. It's not 5th grade, that we you do 10 bad things and you go do 1 good thing so it cancels each other out.

Lol, trust me it's not unknown. Besides the Aus, who pulled NZ to come along, none of the other guys want him. And Pawar isn't any better option. But I would rather have Pawar than that guy.

The ICC loves mixing sport with politics. Sharad Pawar is a politician.

Lotus Kamal(BCB), Butt(PCB) and Pawar(BCCI) all of these politicians(no matter how corrupt they are) have been involved with their cricket boards. What has Howard done for CA? His nomination itself was a joke.

And that's the ICC we know and love. Become president of your board, bumble your way through its administration and subvert it for your own causes; then they will welcome you with open arms. :laugh

That's hardly got anything to do with it. Why are you mixing politics with sport?

He is a politician who wants a powerful position in cricket administration. This is the epitome of mixing politics with sport.

Cricketman added 1 Minutes and 20 Seconds later...

I thought Anderson then was supposed to become ICC President, where did Pawar come form?

Powar has been President-elect for a while now, iirc

Sir John Anderson was NZ nominee but Aussies convinced them to go with Howard. :facepalm

WTF, is its AUS and NZs turn how the fearsome tweak does an Indian get it.

There is no thing as country's turn in ICC presidency.

Pawar and Morgan had agreed to take over the ICC president's post by turn after both garnered an equal number of votes from 10 ICC full members for the top job in 2006.

You guys need to learn how to read.

The current incumbent is Sharad Pawar, who is the current VP. When David Morgan's term ends, Pawar will take over as ICC President for two years. The Aus/NZ candidate is for the next incumbent, and would take over as VP now. So if Howard's nomination as VP was accepted, in 2012 he would become the ICC President.

Pawar's term has been approved since 2008. He was serving as VP since then.

Well Mark Richardson is a whiny bitch then. It's been evident for ages that the likes of Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, South Africa had problems with Howard's nomination even before India stepped into the game. These countries were definitely acting on their own will. India just brought the rest of the Asian bloc in (and apparently West Indies). There have been qualms about Howard's nomination from Day 1, and that's not a secret.

^^ Don't blame yourself. It's all BCCI's fault. They make things soo confusing!
