NEWS TODAY:

Lasith Malinga wants underground tunnel under pitches

Sri Lankan pacer, Lasith Malinga wants an underground tunnel under all cricket pitches so that he could make full use of his unusual "round arm" bowling action. He said that he could get even more round arm so that the ball could travel beneath the pitch and beat the batsmen who struggled to cope with his pace and action. He said he was perfecting his round arm delivery so that his arm was underground at the point of delivery and that was the reason for his request.

Bishen Bedi calls all bowlers "chuckers"

In a highly unexpected tirade, former Indian left-arm spinner, Bishen Singh Bedi has said that all bowlers in cricket are "chuckers" because they release the ball from their hand at the point of delivery, bringing it under the broad term of "throw".

"I read the Webster's and Oxford's English dictionary and according to its definition, all bowlers throw the ball. It's ridiculous. The ICC should be banned." he added irrelevantly. Asked if former Indian medium pacer, Venkatesh Prasad was also a chucker, he said, "yes, by this definition."

Muttiah Muralitharan to patent birth defect elbow

Muttiah Muralitharan, the ace-Sri Lankan offspinner has told that he was expected to patent his birth-defect elbow after his retirement which would effective give him royalty on all bowlers with hyper-extensible elbows in the future. Stating that his patent claim was valid, he said that his action was unique and he wanted to protect it from misuse such as chucking by other bowlers. The Sri Lankan cricket board stated that future Sri Lankan bowlers would be unaffected by the patent.

ICL now officially recognized by BCCI - Subhash Chandra

ICL promoter, Zee TV's Subhash Chandra said that the BCCI has officially recognized the ICL from yesterday. Talking to news reporters, he claimed that the BCCI Chief Sharad Pawar had met him and told him that not only was the ICL now recognized officially, but it would also be provided with all facilities around the country including cricket grounds, sports training facilities and financial assistance.

When asked why the BCCI chief has not confirmed the news or announced it to the media, Subhash Chandra said that just as he was coming to that part of it, the telephone beside his bed rang and woke him up. He fumed at Kapil Dev who was the caller and called it a "missed opportunity".

Funny, but I don't get some of it because it is more sub-continent related. Are you going to do a second edition?

I might do more as I get more ideas. ;)
