Does anybody know what a spoogly is? My friend (not) tells me that there is a type of ball that is called spoogly, is this so? He says,"You do an off spin action but it is leg spin."

the offies wrongun (personaly cant do it) just like a doosra

Maybe, depends on the ball. There's the doosra and the teesra, the doosra works like the opposite of a wrong'un or googly, the teesra is more like a leg break.

Also the teesra is a little bit mythic.

Yea hes right sort of, never heard it called a spoogly, but yea its an off-spinners wrong-un. As an off spinner myself I simply call it a wrong-un.

I bowl off-spin and I bowl these sorts of deliveries myself. All I do is bowl it kind of like the way Shane Warne bowls his slider, except I put more sidespin on it and it looks a little more like an off break, but turns like a leg break. To bolw the delivery, I grip the ball with my index and middle finger, with my third finger and thumb giving support. I then start to bowl the delivery but my third finger does more of the "spinning" if you like. Can be quite effective if you conceal it well enough.

Now is the teesra the one Murali bowls with the seam between his fingers. I remember hearing him talk about it, trying to get the ball to swing. Adds a whole new dimension of spin bowling. Imagine an away-swinging off break. Nasty.

Im an off-spinner / medium pace bowler, and i still havn't figured out how to do the offspiner wrong un. it's diffucult to bowl...

teesra? an away swinging off-break? thats just an arm ball nothing special. An arm ball is also called a drifter, aka it drifts away from the batsmen!!

Just conceal the ball and bowl it without spininng:p. Especially useful when you dart it in.
Spoogly ay? I saw this offie in a Twenty20 cup in Pakistan who had a leggies action. Used his wrist for drift. Pretty neat idea, and it works nicely. But if you have a good bowling acion and concealment, you could just use a legspinner instead. Especially annoying when you're an offie, who bowls a leg spinner and gets the batsman playing for the leggie, only for him to find out it is a googly :p

Sachin bowls a seam up delivery while bowling leg spin, and gets some reverse swing. Useful.

Well I am actually a Medium Pacer, but I do bowl Off Spin in street cricket.

I personally am trying to develop a delivary that is a off-spinners wrong-un, however i cant seem to get it rite in the nets! anyone got any tips on grips, or pictures of their own grip for this delivary? help appreciated

Well my arm-ball is without any special grip. I just hold it in all my five fingers and dart it in. However, for the wrong-un, you could try gripping it in only your index finger and thum, and release it with a bit of twist. It doesn't spin as much. I don't use it much-too hard to control, even for street cricket. I just use the armball...

yeh im a offie and have trouble with the wrong un but i kinda of have one that fools batsman lol, i do a leggies runup and look like bowling a leggie and do leggie wrong un(i used to be a leggie) and they thing gunna be a leggie and turns in, plenty of wickets from it (feel free 2 use it)

Interesting but I would be hopeless as I cant even get the grip right for a leg spinner! :)
