God-like levels of talent? LOL, Steyns got far more talent than Morkel ever will have.

Lol, I never mentioned Steyn. I'm just a huge Morne fanboy :D. Love him. I think he could go really far. I know Steyn's better though :p. For now...

Nothing. Especially since the mods are only too happy to allow members who try very hard to get banned, and do get banned, back in to the forum.

Very possible. Still a long way to go mate. Let's see how MSD's side performs outside the subcontinent. Time will say. Australia's days are over- everyone knows that. Now the battle is on amongst three countries- India, SA, and England. England is quite out of the race. That leaves two nations- India and SA. Both are equally poised and well-balanced sides. Anyone can be the winner. Time will say. ;) All depends on how MSD's team performs outside the subcontinent and how SA fairs over the next two/three years. (I mean, let's see whether they be able to keep their consistency or not) Ooh boy! I am dying to see another Ind-SA series! When will they again meet each other?

Only in 2 or 3 years, probably the 2010-2011 season. There won't be an India, South Africa tour in India for a long time though considering that there was one just this years.

Until India can win a series in South Africa, they can't really be called unstoppable. South Africa did draw with then in India earlier last year, in which India should have killed a team with not big turner of the ball. The Indian lack variety in their pace bowling department, too many swing bowler whose effect would be minimized if the conditions don't suit them.

Australia's dominance is slowly slipping away from us and I don't think our massive wins will occur as much as they used to but how come Australia can't be a competitive side against India, SA and England? Just because Australia has lost greats of the game doesn't mean that Australia won't find good players to fill the spots. Australia did bounce back in the last 3 games (if you can call that last game in Brisbane an ODI) and it was encouraging to see Callum Ferguson play really well. It isn't the end of the world for Australia, just the beginning of a new era I guess.

I think this is ideal time for India to show that they can be the number one by starting to win series consistently abroad. Our overseas record took a positive turn under Ganguly where we started winning tests abroad, and now under Dhoni, we have to start winning series abroad. Dhoni is the ideal guy to bring that transition. The way he is leading the side along with the support of Kirsten, I think this side can. But can often doesnt translate into 'has'. Hope it does now!

India are the kings of cricket.. there is no doubt about that.

Given that South Africa are better at cricket I would suggest not.

South Africa have won more tests away from home in the last 18 months than India have in their entire test history, India will never be number one.

Why not? History is there to be changed! India is already unofficially the No. 1 ODI side. Not yet the No. 1 Test side though, but there's no reason why that can't happen either.

South Africa > India/Australia > England/Sri Lanka > The Rest

End of the day, that is how it is, and until India get a few more games outside of the subcontinent that won't change

India really has a chance to become the number one team.Yeah I agree South Africa have proven their strengths overseas more than India .But its stupid to say they would never become no. 1.

Dale Steyn will be too much for India to handle.

Vividly remember the Indian cricket team being a victim of a devestating spell of fast-bowling by Dale Steyn. I loved watching every minute of it. :D
