So, do some of you get comments saying it's bland, doesn't have a good focal point or something? I give it out a lot, and if you're wondering how to fix it here are simple methods and techniques I usually use on all my artworks.

1. Selective Colour
This is one of my favourite things on photoshop. It is what makes or breaks my manips and icons. It's so good. And so so simple! I'll show you an example of something I just whipped up using selective colour

Before;

After;

All I did was add some selective colour and it already looks good. You can do this at the end if your signature needs something extra. All you do is:
- Click on the black and white circle just below the layers section
- Click selective colour
- In the drop down is a host of colours. Just play with every slider and make the colours more vibrant!

2. Brightness/contrast
If I've ever told you it needs more omph, or the lighting needs working on, don't forget to try some brightness contrast. Same as before, just play with the sliders until you get something look good. I normally go more contrast then lighting. Here's an example;

After;

Not much difference you say? Trust me, on some pieces it makes A LOT of difference. Not the best example here but you get the idea.

3. Lighting Effects
Filter > Render > Lighting effects. Pick something nice. Example;

Before;

After;

And there. 3 of the simplest things you can do to make photos and graphics look better.

REMEMBER;
1. You don't always have to use all 3
2. Don't do the same settings of each effect for every graphic. Just because it looks good on one it may not look good on the other!
3. This isn't a good completed graphic. It's just an example. Don't just copy this, be creative!

Final example of 3 simple effects!

Don't be afraid to try these out on your artworks if you feel it's lacking something! Be willing to try new things and experiment :)

Yep, a great effect. Try use all of the Red/Yellow/Blue etc up until Neutrals where you need to be careful because it changes the whole colour of the thing.

Color balance is thought to be a preserved trick but it's more of a quick super wooing technique.

Add blending modes to the flavour and you'll love art.

Always great matt, kiu. Show up on MSN gutto :p
