Hey guys recently a lot of different types of storys have been made and i would like to do a different one all together.
I am going to do a managerial story on cricket 2006.It will be done in first person and will be like a diary.i will play the matches but instead of focusing on pictures and how the teams are doing it will be on how myself the manager is feeling at each part of the match.

I have decided to take on the head coach job at Somerset.

:) :cheers

Meet the Guys
I arrived at Somerset's ground at 10:00 AM and was greeted by the Chairman of Somerset Cricket Club.He welcomed my aboard and showed my around the ground. At 11:30 i went to meet the team.Cameron White The captain introduced me to each individual player and they all seemed like a nice bunch of lads.

We then went down to the training ground to have a nets session.Cameron White insisted on batting first and so in he went into the first net.I sent in young James Hildreth in the second net to see how much talent this young lad had after hearing so much about him.I was also interested to see how Andrew Caddick was getting on still playing cricket at his age.

The first half hour was a great insight to the spirit and quality of this Somerset side.i spent most the time watching James Hildreth bat but caught glimsis of Skipper Cameron White knock it all over the Training ground or getting his middle stump ripped out the ground by Charl Willoughby.i gave a few tips to the bowlers as they bowled and gave James and Cameron a word when they came out the nets.

I noticed Cameron likes to play straight and is not as good square of the wicket.I gave him a few tips on how to get his feet into position to play squarer when needed.James was the opposite and gave him a word on playing more straight. But after watching the young lad bat he did seem to have a lot of talent and could even play for England some time in the future.

Mate Ea cricket 2006 is not out yet unless u mean ICC 2006

It's good to see a proud Victorian in the mix - Cameron White. He has a lot of potential that bloke, in both the batting and bowling departments. It wouldn't surprise me if he was in Somerset's leadership group.

Good luck with the story. I'm sure an Aussie bowler (eg. Cameron White) is going to rip apart those Pommie batsmen :p.

Good luck. :cheers

Build up to the first match
After meeting the guys and having a training session I sat down with Assistant coach Andy Hurry(former coach before myself). We had a chat about who we should make key players, which players to look out for and what tatics would be best on the Taunton pitch.Andy told me that Gareth Andrews is a big prospect and we should keep an eye on him in the nets and give him chances in the first XI.He also said that Blackwell has a bad shoulder injury and is going to the hospital tommorro to find out when he can get back playing.I thought to myself
"Damn, i wanted him as skipper! It will be out of Cameron White and Andrew Caddick to captain if Blackwell can't play!"

I then went down the corridor to see the Director of Somerset County Cricket Club Brian Rose.He told me about his plans for this season and what he wanted the club to achieve. He told me that he would love to win the 20 Twenty competition again this year but he wanted me to concentrate mainly on the Liverpool Victoria Championship.

Blackwell results
I was nervous as I got up this morning wondering wether Ian Blackwell can captain the team for the forthcoming season.I arrived at the ground and went to the physio Darren Veness.I knocked on the door and walked in.I hadn't met Darren before so introduced myself and we had a chat.I then asked about Ian's results. He picked up a piece of paper and said
"Unfortunatley the hospital have said that he will be unable to play for the whole season!"
He showed my the piece of paper and the pictures of the X-Ray and he will need an operation on his shoulder.

Preparing for the first match
Today me and the guys had a talk about how they like to approach each game. They told me that they like to have a bit of a go in the nets watch a bit of the opposition on tape and work out there weaknesses and if they want to work on something then they will ask me to go through it with them.So we went down to the nets and had a bit of a session.Andy Caddick bowled a fantastic line and length and seemed raring to go for the first OD match agaisnt Warickshire.

Later we went and had a look at some tapes of Warickshire and where they liked to hit the ball and what areas the bowl.Cameron White,James Hildreth and John Francis all fancied having a good hit against Dougie Brown where as Wes Durston thought that he could have a good try against the skipper Heath Streak.

After that I sat down with Andy Hurry and said who my candadates for skipper this year.I said to him
"I believe we should have Cameron White or Andrew Caddick as skipper this season."
He turned around and said
"What about Marcus Trescothick! He plays for England and has captained the side before!"
Then i remembered Marcus is available for the first few games!
I then said
"Ok this year Marcus will captain when he plays and when he doesn't Andrew Caddick will be skipper!"

Match Day
Got to Edgbaston and thought what a ground!Me and Andy Hurry talked through the team selection and this is what we came up with:
1.Marcus Trescothick CPT
2.Matt Wood
3.John Francis
4.James Hildreth
5.Wes Durston
6.Cameron White
7.Carl Gazzard
8.Richard Johnson
9.Andrew Caddick VC
10.Charl Willoughby
11.Dan Cullen

The guys seemed fired up and ready to go as we practiced out in the middle. We had a look at the pitch and it seems to be a good pitch for both bowlers and batsman. It's overcast so I've advised Marcus to bowl if we win the toss.

We got to the toss and Marcus picked Heads. It fell a head and he took my advice of putting Warickshire into bat.I had my doubts about putting them into bat but if we can bowl well we will have no problem chasing anything under 225.

Good luck with this ICC story, I like the way that you've put it into first-person :D
