The Apple iPad

Source? I seem remember having specifically read that it only does 480/720 (one of the two, can't remember which one).
The highest number I read was 576p, though it does output its screen resolution over VGA, but that doesn't really count.

More importantly, why does it matter? Why are you hooking up the iPad to a TV in the first place? Wasn't the point that for media it was big enough on its own? An iPhone/iPod Touch connected to a TV will do exactly the same thing, so why buy the bigger one?

Whatever it is, I think it would be awesome to browse the net on this thing. Sure it is just a big iPod Touch but damn, imagine 10' of multi touch at your fingertips. It's a really vibrant, responsive screen too.

It's a good novelty item for those with a lot of spare cash. If they want something light to just browse the web with on the couch or in the backyard or something. Unfortunately, many of us don't fall into that category - but hardcore Apple fans surely do. ;)

Extremely pointless device. Apple completely have blown it. It is just a jumbo ipod touch which can read books. 'Wow':sarcasm. Netbook>Ipad. Apple = Fail (unfortunately)

Shamelessly stolen from CW, but it made me laugh:

No flash = flop show
Apart from price nothing good about this. But if you want all goodies the price will come to the original price that it was thought this device would be of.

AAPL stock has been doing pretty well considering what a laughing stock the iPad is on the blogosphere/twitterverse. Only about a 2% fall since the product was announced.

Looks like an Ipod Touch on steroids to me. I thought it was a joke when I first heard it. The price looks reasonable, but still wouldn't buy it.

No flash = no cricket stream = no thank = Apple is still fail

The product is not good from a technical perspective but anyone who is betting against it making a lot of money is wrong. AAPL stock recovered another 3% or so today.

TBH, I've been thinking a lot about the device and am even on it right now. I would not consider spending my money to buy one in its current state, but I'd definitely be interested in checking it out. If they fix a few things in the next release, I could be game... especially if the pricing model is as aggressive.

Anyways, I'm going to write a blog post about it sometime soon. :D

Apple products will always sell regardless of how crap they are. Their marketing team is brilliant and they have convinced the younger crowd that apple is the hip product and "all the cool kids have them"

If someone like HP or Dell would have launched this thing, it would have failed. But because it is Apple, it will sell like Hmarka said. Although I believe Apple's most products only kick off in the second or third iteration, so mark my words, the iPad will sell like hotcakes come a newer iteration with fixes / more performance / more features. Since its Apple, the "cool" thing, it doesn't necessarily need to be cheap to sell however.

Everything that is Apple is not guaranteed for success. There have been long list of failures from this company.

Most might not know but flop Motorola ROKR mobile phone was Apples first attempt at mobile phone.
