woo a 4 month party

It's dark enough I suppose. Just need to drop down some lights, speakers, and booze. Though it'd echo like crazy I suspect.

Its going to be a challenge for them to stay sane for that long, especially not knowing if they will survive (could easily be another collapse).

I bet at times like those it helps to have faith.

I dunno, it didn't help George Michael.

Being serious for once; There is no way I can possible conceive myself staying sane under those conditions for four months. I'm slightly claustrophobic as it is but the idea of of staying down there for four months would be soul destroying. Hell the tunnel out is going to be very tight which for me would be a nightmare me. If I can't move my legs freely I start panicking for no real reason.

They're miners so they're used to spending decent lengths of time in small spaces.

Hopefully 4 months is not long enough for it to turn into a massive orgy down there.

^You never know. Claustrophobia may bring out the animal in a few :sarcasm
On a more serious note I hope everything ends well for all of them.

Did you guys hear about the 'massive solar storm' which is predicted to hit earth with a force of '100 million hydrogen bombs' in 2012? Man, that's scary! I guess the Doomsday theories had some merit after all (the storm would still not be enough to cause an apocalypse though).

Does not sound too credible, I have seen 0 coverage of it anywhere, printed media or TV

Back to the whole mining thing - I felt claustrophobic as hell just watching that one House episode where he gets stuck underneath the rubble of a subway or something... I can't imagine being actually in that situation - that too for four months! How are they supposed to live?

They had something completely identical to this in 1859 and nobody died..

The worst case scenario of this is that we'd lose a huge amount of telegraph lines and have some internet stuff go down for a few days. Besides, NASA don't know exactly when this is going to occur - there's a chance it will be in 2013 as well, but obviously press printing this as going to happen in 2012 are getting more publicity due to the 'Doomsday theories'.

I think the only possible realistic scenario of us getting wiped out is by a large meteorite, presumably of similar size or larger than the one hitting earth 65 million years ago.
If a large meteorite is said to be hitting earth on 2012, only then will I give credence to Doomsday theories :p

My mom told me that there was a prediction about the doomsday in the 1990s when they said the world was about to end.But did it end?

Are you sure it wasn't Y2K, I'm fairly sure there were no doomsday predictions in the 1990s...

Well, I don't know really. Indian media is too sensationalizing.:p

varun_rustagi added 4 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...

And I was just 5 when the 21st century started!:p
