Hello Everyone and Welcome to the newly anticipated "Sports Centre Newspaper". Some members of Planetcricket have decided to come together and produce a massive Sports wrap, in their own Newspaper type style.
The Sports we will be covering will be, SOCCER (English Premier League), AFL (Weekend wraps and special player interviews), Tennis (competition write ups, to see whose the best tennis player going around), Formula One car racing, Rugby (wallabies) and American Football.

Some pretty good range of Sports there that will be covered in this newspaper, so it should be very interesting.
Let's have a look at what members are going to be covering what sports.

AFL - Roofrom50 and Punterpupnroy - Covy (with special comments)
Soccer- shantanu_rooney - Giggity Giggity
Tennis - PaulNixon1 - Feelin Blue?
F1 - 20/20 PRO
Rugby- Feelin Blue?
American Football - treva

So what will this newspaper cover. Stories on the selected sports. Weekend results/wraps. Player interviews, player reports, injuries, big stories covering the sports over the week.

Let's hope we can have some fun over the duration while creating this newspaper, and we hope everyone not involved with the making of this story, get's involved and behind us, to keep this newspaper going.

Thanks everyone

Pats and Bills break records in opening day clash

maloneyusedzl8.jpg

Laurence Maroney had a career high game at running back

The New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills played out a record breaking tie in New England on the opening day of the new season. New England came out victorious, pipping the Bills to a 37-35 win.

The two teams broke several NFL records, including the most offensive yards made by both teams in a game. The Bills also broke the record for the most passes attempted in a game, Trent Edwards throwing 73 passes to surpass Drew Bledsoe's 70 pass attempts against Minnesota for New England in 1994.

Buffalo's kicker Rian Lindell tied the record for the most field goal attempts in a game, kicking 9 times and scoring on 7 occasions.

Laurence Maroney scored a career high 3 touchdowns and rushed for 200 yards. He scored 2 touchdowns on the ground and caught 1 in the air alongside his 93 receiving yards.

The Patriots lead at the half after Maroney's 3 touchdowns. Lindell had kicked 5 field goals in the half to keep a struggling offence, that could find the end zone, in the game at 21-15.

After the half things looked up for Buffalo, as Marshawn Lynch rushed in for the score. Buffalo lead 25-24 at the end of the 3rd quarter thanks to another Lindell field goal.

Tom Brady picked up his game in the final quarter to march down the field 3 times and come away with 13 points. His touchdown pass to tight end Ben Watson gave his side the lead half way through the quarter.

Despite a Trent Edwards 10 yard pass to Marshawn Lynch, it wasn't enough, and the Patriots came away with a thrilling opening day victory over their AFC East counterparts.

Really good idea. Great to see it's finally going. Records in the first game of the season. And not just one. That's a first. Great stuff (treva?).
