A new era has begun at The Top Class Kids, turn over has increased and the clubs youths are developing into stars and the future looks bright after it looked so dim. We will be following how the club continues into the future and how the young stars perform as the quality of the competition increases.

My Top XI

#99 - Greg “Wacko” Mbeki (c)

mbeki1rf9.png

Nationality - West Indian
Type - Pace All-Rounder
Age - 17
Battrick Rating - 6,420

An all rounder in training, Greg grew up in the West Indies looking up to players like the TT Lions all-rounder Ryan Crouch. Now he has moved to Australia and is captain of The Top Class Kids getting to boss around Arthur Dennis who bossed his hero Ryan Crouch around so many seasons ago at the TT Lions. His batting is on the improve after showing up to training at first with the coaches thinking he was naturally disabled until he scored 404* in a first class game, then they just thought he was Brian Lara is disguise.

FC Stats - 410 runs at 410 and 5 wickets at 40
OD Stats - 31 runs at 15.5 and 5 wickets at 46

#67 - Ray “Gray” Nicholls (vc)

mbeki1nw0.png

Nationality - Australian
Type - Middle Order Batsmen
Age - 20
Battrick Rating - 13,438

Aggression and power sums up Ray Nicholls’ game. His father is a cricket-crazed man who claims that he had named him after a bat brand after god showed him a sign that he would be a terrific batsmen one day. Capable of demolishing bowling that is just off par “Gray” will be in the team for many seasons to come.

FC Stats - 992 runs at 99.20
OD Stats - 1323 runs at 49

#13 - Ian “Tiger” Wotton

mbeki1ee4.png

Nationality - Australian
Type - Wicket Keeper
Age - 18
Battrick Rating - 20,981

The Top Class Kids star player, this man has won many games with his wicket keeping and even more with the bat. Nicknamed Tiger due to his lack of skill with the golf club but when this young superstar has the bat in his hands you better send your fielders deep. Ian’s roommate is St Michele CC star Doug Bennett and thanks to that fact he has shown up to training with Oven Mitts instead of Wicket Keeping Gloves, but don’t worry for our young hero… he slept with Doug’s girlfriend.

FC Stats - 667 runs at 166.75
OD Stats - 582 runs at 58.20

#59 - Shaun “Cock” Harvey

mbeki1np1.png

Nationality - English
Type - Spin Bowler
Age - 18
Battrick Rating - 7,567

Ever since the sale of Shaun Mason, “Cock” has been left to lead the bowling attack still as aggressive and cocky as ever. Big turning, he enjoys the current conditions around Scheisse Stadium with the dusty track giving him a quite enjoyable time. His cockiness can sometimes get out of hand, sledging the opposition batsmen by teaching them the correct technique to play a certain shot even though he is an established number 11. His presence is a key to the success of the club.

FC Stats - 14 wickets at 21.07
OD Stats - 20 wickets at 36.15

#88 - Martin “McNugget” Mattheus

mbeki1bb3.png

Nationality - Australian
Type - Opening Batsmen
Age - 20
Battrick Rating - 3,986

Overweight but with a big heart, McNugget is a man who loves his Scottish cuisine… McDonalds, but his speed between the wickets is irrelevant as his aggression usually sees the ball heading towards the ropes. A great character around the dressing room, he works in the winter months as a part time Santa having half the required skills, but when it comes to cricket he isn’t as jolly as he looks.

FC Stats - 1288 runs at 92.00
OD Stats - 815 runs at 42.89

#22 - Zat “The Bat” Buchan

mbeki1em6.png

Nationality - South African
Type - Opening Batsmen
Age - 22
Battrick Rating - 6,389

One of those bat freaks… he carries 4 bats in his kit and has names for each one, there is Woody, Woodson, Timber and Steve. One of the few patient batsmen in the squad, Zat the Bat has been known to play the big innings when needed, always performing under pressure but has been known to slack off against the weaker of opponents, you could say its because he’s South African… but we say its just because fixing matches.

FC Stats - 955 runs at 86.82
OD Stats - 853 runs at 38.77

#5 - Graeme “Angry” Roberts

mbeki1bl5.png

Nationality - Australian
Type - Pace Bowler
Age - 17
Battrick Rating - 4,949

The world’s most aggressive medium pace bowler, his follow through is so long he has been known to run past the batsmen facing the ball. Any time he is hit for a boundary it’s met with an average of 3.7 swear words and sometimes if your lucky the occasional stump being speared at the batsmen. Not a big swinger of the ball his line is very difficult to pick up leading to his bouncer being so effective but when you have an aggression problem you tend to bowl a lot of bouncers.

FC Stats - 31 wickets at 16.94
OD Stats - 6 wickets at 33.83

#37 - Matt “Dizzy” Carrington

mbeki1vr4.png

Nationality - Australian
Type - Pace All Rounder
Age - 19
Battrick Rating - 7,568

Its amazing that Matt Carrington even makes it to the ground in the morning, his concentration is so low that he has actually gone out to bat straight from the shower. His medium pace bowling is his strong point with a lot of swing but very little pace. He has been at the club for a long time and will go down as one of the slowest cricketers ever to play the game, in more ways than one.

FC Stats - 157 runs at 19.63 and 30 wickets at 25.67
OD Stats - 126 runs at 14.00 and 15 wickets at 52.13

#26 - Arthur “Batman” Dennis

mbeki1ts7.png

Nationality - West Indian
Type - Middle Order Batsmen
Age - 28
Battrick Rating - 5.445

A former TT Lion, at only 28 he is an accomplished bat maker after making bats for great players such as Ryan Crouch, Mohammed Delop and Ian Wotton. Constant target of jokes, the cricket bats in his kit have often been replaced with walking sticks. “Batman” has recently bought a campervan to travel around Australia in with his wife Robyn once he retires. A lower order slogger nowadays, his glory days are seemingly over but he has given out plenty of experience to this very young squad.

FC Stats - 1012 runs at 92.00
OD Stats - 1415 runs at 44.22

#32 - Chittaprasad “Dangie” Dangasela

mbeki1er7.png

Nationality - Indian
Type -Spin Bowler
Age - 19
Battrick Rating - 4,055

Cock’s spin twin, Dangie has bored many cricket fans around the world with his Ashley Giles style bowling but lets be honest… nobody can be worse than The King of Spain. Somewhat a bunny with the bat he shocked all club members when he scored 251* and was greeted by many bewildered teammates who were in fatal shock as well as the spectators… final count five injured, two dead.

FC Stats - 14 wickets at 31.57
OD Stats - 17 wickets at 24.94

#18 - Martin “Slim” James

mbeki1tr5.png

Nationality - West Indian
Type - Middle Order Batsmen
Age - 18
Battrick Rating - 5,293

One of the skinniest men on the face of the earth, he wouldn’t look out of place in Ethiopia but he certainly looks out of place when opening the batting with Martin Mattheus. He has since been put down the order to 5 where he seems to enjoy not looking so disproportionate. Slim is the overall top run scorer for The Top Class Kids in One Day matches, a record which he will be looking to keep hold of but with Ian Wotton chasing him with triple his talent it looks like a 5000/1 chance.

FC Stats - 804 runs at 89.33
OD Stats - 960 runs at 50.53

Yeah, great start. Made me chuckle. Now we all know a little bit about your star players. This is gold - well done.

Predators beat The Kids in a Thriller

kkkkuk3.png

The Top Class Kids have lost by 24 runs in their OD match against Predators in a thrilling and arousing performance. The Top Class Kids won the toss and elected to field as the massive crowd of 9451 chanted Ian Wotton's name in anticipation of the great one. Graeme Roberts opened the bowling with his first ball a tremendous 110 kph bouncer which lead to a Martin James misfield who was then abused for up to five minutes which finished with Angry crying about his mum.... (Yeh I dont know either). Matt Carrington slipped in and out of concentration all day taking 5/83 in a somewhat confusing performance. The spinners kept things tighter than Zorax with his money bowling 20 overs combined for 53 runs and 2 wickets in a tremendous performance. For the opposition Matt Balindlela made 63 to get the Predators to a decent 236.

The chase was a somewhat confusing one for the fans to watch with Ian Wotton departing for 19 after a ridiculous LBW call which left him reported for claiming the umpire was bribed. It was Arthur "Batman" Dennis who belted 77 runs off 48 balls for his wife Robyn who was fighting crime in her job as a police officer. Things looked super at 4/198 but then a massive colllapse left the Kids all out for 212 wondering what could have been and the party which could have followed. The coach was furious about the teams performance banning them from drinking for an hour, and Martin Mattheus eating for an hour which lasted all off 5 seconds.

The next match is a friendly against carsmiles crushers who have been pestering the coach for a match for months, the same line up is expected to play but the result will be different.... or else!

Youth Pull

kkkkuk3.png

The academy coach showed up to work drunk... so he sent down a marathon runner (who just wanted to use the toilets) to train in the nets with us. He said his name was Tim Lebimo and he wasn?t here for cricket but after a Graeme Roberts ?Lecture? going over the average 3.7 swear words he strapped on the pads and faced up. The fastest bowler in the squad Liam Dayton hit him square in the box first ball that resulted in the wahmbulance being called and his chance at making the Olympics gone.

mbeki1rv4.png

Tim Lebimo won't be lasting a marathon in the bedroom

Predators are in my FC league

This is a great story Griffo. Really liked the start and you have used the ideas that I thought I would do for my story next season :(. Continue on your great start.
