The New Forest has some great scenery, it's not really a forest, more heathland really. Great place to see Deer and other wildlife.

Traffic is really overstated in England. London sucks pretty much 24/7 for traffic, the only way to really get around is public transport. Be prepared for that to be packed at peak times too. Other than that the UK isn't really too bad. Parts of the motorway system back up at times but it's not as bad as its made out to be. (I am used to it though, been driving around the South of England for more than 10 years as part of my job).
