All right guys, I have had some more hits and here are some tips when you first get a hand on the game to enjoy a good nice game.

1. Dont try custom fields and if you do make sure you dont have shortish mid off and mid on. I was enjoying playing ODI against NZ but mid way through I had to give up due to 3 runouts. The scorecard reading pathetic 19/5 after 8 overs.

2. Dont select your own team, play with the default selection. The default teams are still good enough and reflect current players. The stats get a bit messed if you select your own team.

3. If you are consistently bowling out opposition for paltry scores, try autoplay. This is the best to happen to the game, it simulates good totals and will be fun to chase.

4. Dont get too frustrated when batting if you are unable to middle any through the off side in the first few overs. Play across the line till you get a bit of a confidence going, once done you can bat like the Laras, Tendulkars or Cairns. Play straight and dig out all yorkers bowled at you. After the current game I have to say the average number of yorkers were a bit reduced. Play both off front and back foot towards fine leg to keep the score card moving.

5. Dont get struck in the crease when you start batting first. Move around in the crease to adjust to the line of the ball and score singles. The theory seems to be maxposadjust in the game is very low to start with and increases with your stay at crease. This is a very well thought out plan, this really makes your batting enjoyable. Once your confidence is quite high you will not need to make that adjustment moving around the crease, the batting just gets better and will surpass all your expectations.

Come on guys add to this list your thoughts to avoid bugs, let the ones who will be getting the game shortly have a good game.

im finding the computer bowls one opening bowler for way to long in tests, I played india and he bowled 17 overs before he was takien off, anyone know how to stop that?

Also with selecting default team line ups, what i have done is for instance, Beven is in the aussie test line up, so i base copy waugh and replace him with beven in team management, and waugh becomes the default player, and everything works. Make sense?

In ODIs the opening bowler bowls 10 overs notwithstanding how badly he bowls. This issue has been since BLC and I cannot see any reason why this was not fixed at all. Loads of mods have been done on BLC and C2K2 but for fixing this issue. I cannot see this being fixed unless EA come up with an official patch(dont count on this).

lol u cant trust ea
but i heard that konami released a patch the very next day for pro evo soccer 3 since the game hit stores
thats the diff between japanese and other guys they try to touch the perfection whereas others F@@K the perfection

I agree kmk about Konami. The patch they released for PES 3 didn't help everyone, but at least one WAS released, (rapidly at that), and another has too, since then.
Oh, how I wish the Japanese played cricket...

Thanks for the tips guys. Much appreciated. But the fact remains that we shouldn't have to employ such tactics to make the game enjoyable ( I mean only using default fields and teams). Poor show EA/HB.

one tip for the run outs is to have the mid on and mid off in the positions for open field 1 for med fast bowlers for all bowler types - I have used these positions in custom fields bowling for 50 overs and got 1 run out !!

Is it true that when u create custom players and play a test match and load a saved game after some time , the squad changes? .If so then what is the use of Player EDITOR.ANd i have heard that once the rain starts , it does not stop?.

Even if you do not create the custom players, the squad changes from what you have choosen. Its like saying you can choose any team you like but CPU will replace your squad with default ones the moment you quit the game and come back again. The trick here is to start a game and finish it in one go.

what i do is, with bowlers, only put 3 or 4 bowlers in my whole squad, then they have 2 pick them as ur default. Not sure about batters

Ill try that cheers, Johnsma2. Is there a way to edit a player already there, I would wish to change a player from lower order to opener. Thanks in advance.

But what about the test match then.It is not possible to finish a test match in one go.Can there be a patch made by which this problem can be fixed.

I know its a problem but its not too difficult to fix. IMO the major issues are runouts, bad bowling changes which probably cannot be fixed by any of us. Guys who did player editors for C2K2 can fix this with another of those editors. The player names are in roster.pak under my documents\user\EA Sports\Cricket 2004. The player attributes and default lineups can be edited via this I think.

Yes would like a bowling line up editor, to ensure all the best bowlers are used first etc

one thing i noticed that the bowler never gets tired even after bowling long spells.

the stamina meter is always full........i think thats a major bug.

can it be fixed.
