UDRS to be used for ODIs

Players will be able to challenge umpiring decisions in one-day cricket for the first time this Sunday, as Australia and England trial the decision review system in the lead-up to the World Cup. Despite the BCCI's continued opposition to the UDRS, it will be used for the duration of the World Cup, which starts on the subcontinent on February 19.

Hot Spot is likely to only be available for the final stages, as there are not enough Hot Spot cameras to be sent to all the pool matches. Until now, the UDRS has only been used in Test cricket, but it relies on the boards of both countries agreeing, and only four of the past ten Test series have featured umpire reviews.

Good to see, especially for the World Cup. Last thing we need is a bad decision knocking out a team. Can't wait to see how it goes on Sunday too.

Nice. Mud the BCCI. NZ-Pak should try it too. And only SA should go ahead and use it. Since BCCI don't want to, don't let them.

Now that is gonna be interesting . Unfortunately there isn't an Alastair Cook in the ODI side to bring out a number of bad decisions from the umpire :p

Yea, the only way to get them to use it is to force them. Even if India won the World Cup because of the UDRS the BCCI will still be adamant that it's not good, or accurate.

The Kiwi commentators brought up a suggestion, how about letting the opposition use it but not India because they clearly don't want to while everyone else does.

I'm all for that. Everyone should get to use it except India. They are hampering the progress of cricket yet again because they haven't figured out how to make money off it.

It's just like Twenty20, they feared the change at first but as soon as they saw the opportunity to make money, they jumped on it like a pack of starving swine.

I think this is a good move. ODI is important enough to have the UDRS and I wouldn't want to see a team in the World Cup get knocked out due to a shocking umpiring decision.

It's only 1 in 50 over cricket.

1/2 for T20? You will be only be allowed to challenge if you are given out? In other words, batting side only...

nah, that's stupid

Two were made each by the fielding side. Neither were over turned and were used towards the end of the match. But I'm sure we will see a shocker and it will be used properly.
