Spain vs Peru Preview

96401542tj0.jpg

Spain take on Peru in an international friendly tonight at Huelva when Luis Aragones gets to use his 23 man Euro 2008 squad for the first time.

Aragones, who is under pressure to deliver in Austria and Switzerland, was criticized by journalists and pundits for overlooking the likes of Raul and Capel. And the former Mallorca coach will be hoping his selected bunch of players put up a good performance tonight to silence all the critics.

Spain have been on an impressive run recently, after a wobbly start to their Euro 2008 qualifying campaign, where they ended up finishing top of their group. They also registered successive 1-0 wins over rivals and fellow Euro 2008 competitors France and Italy before tonight's game.

And with no injury worries, Aragones is expected to start the dangerous duo of David Villa and Fernando Torres upfront, with Villa's Valencia teammate Silva playing just behind the two strikers. The three man midfield is most probably going to feature Barcelona's Xavi, wonderkid Cesc Fabregas, who will be wearing the number 10 jersey, and Liverpool's Xabi Alonso is expected to be playing the holding role. Carlos Puyol, Raul Albiol, Juan Capdevila and Sergio Ramos should form the back four with the current best goalkeeper in the world, Iker Casillas, an obvious choice in front of goal.
