I ask because when I was in the US, the life guard at the beach I was at went to sleep, and he fell off his chair face first into the sand.

Was funny to see him wake up with sand in his mouth, he looked so embarassed

I'm glad to hear you are enjoying university. It doesn't sound like you have started completely responsibly, though, Tom!

The nearest Sport Journalism course to Norwich is at the University of Bedfordshire, which doesn't sound like a great place. I'm not enthralled by the fact I would have to spend 3 years in Luton either.

You don't go to Uni to be close to home. Blatently go to the Uni with the best bars and the best nightlife. As long as the course is decent you'll be fine. Just don't end up in Scotland

I want to be within a train journey of home. I love the place too much. You might have guessed, but I'm not much of a party animal, the latest I have ever got back from a party was 1:40am.

Talking of decent courses - Bedfordshire does have the some of the best media courses apparently. But 3 years in Luton...

Don't go to Uni just so you can be close to home, that's an idiotic ideal. Go to the best Uni possible that you could go too. Considering that more and more members of the population in the UK now have an education to degree level, and especially if you're going to do something as popular amongst students as a Media course, then you should go to the best Uni possible otherwise you'll risk selling yourself down the river.

The jobs market has become to a point where a lot of people attempting to get jobs straight out of Uni are up against 5/6/7 other people who all have degrees for the same job. It's the person who went to th best university, with the best level of teaching and best degreee result that usually get these jobs. An example being, my Sister finished her Masters Degree earlier this year, she's garanteed at least a Merit (second highest grade a MA level) and she still can't find a job in London, and it's not for sake of applying to the wrong places or not enough.
