Hi everyone, in this thread we shall create our teams with most unpredictable batsman and bowlers. The ones who can score a mind blowing century in one match and get out playing useless shot in next 3 or four games. The players whom you can never guess. A Team which can score 500 on its day in ODI and bundle out for 50 or 60 in very next match.

Here is my Unpredictable XI

Shahid Afridi
Virender Sehwag
Yuvraj Singh
Brendon Maccullum
Herchell Gibbs
Carl Hooper
K.P
Ajit Agarkar
Shaun Tait
Ajantha Mendis
Murali

Viru and k.p are consistent but higly unpredictable thus deserve a spot in the team. mendis and murali are there because of their wide variety, while Tait and Agarkar deserve a spot for being highly inconsistent. In my book agarkar would go down as a player who has wasted his talent. Tait can improve as he is young and has time on his side. Moreover i wanna him to succeed coz ATM he is the only genuine fast bowler in the world.(Lee was unfit for last couple of months)

Afridi used to be unpredictable...nowadays it's very predictable that he will be out within first 10 balls.

How is Murali unpredictable? He's only unpredictable to the batsman, not in terms of his performances.

How can a man who has maintained a consistent 50+ average in tests for the past five years be unpredictable? (Talking about KP)

Nah, he's pretty much spot on about KP. You never know with him.

KP is incredibly unpredictable. One day he could absoloutely dominate an attack if he's in the right mindset, but the next he can look completely off his game. I think the inconsistency comes from his technical issues. If he could remove the quite clear technical issues (once pointed out they're clear anyway) he could be one of the greats. But until then he won't really be able to accelerate his average much.

Sorting out his technique could also prolong his career. At the minute he mainly relies on his hand-eye co-ordination, and as you age, your eye can leave you, so if KP managed to fix the technical issues and find a technique that relied less and less on his eye alone, he'll be able to be consistent and for a longer period of time. His main technical issue should be easy to fix as well, as it's just a matter of opening up his stance to stop him playing around his pad. He's very much like Matty Hoggard, who bowls round his arse, and could have bowled at 90mph if he fixed his action; KP plays round his pad which is restricting him averaging in the mid to late 50's.

His unpredictability also comes from a bowling to him point of view, whereby you never really know what shot KP's going to play. Could walk across his stumps and whip you across to the leg-side, then next ball could bring out the switch hit, then slap you down the ground next ball, no-one really knows what he's going to do. He plays very much on instinct, and once he gets into an attacking frame of mind there's really no stopping him, unless he plays a silly shot and gets himself out, which he has done, in the 90's twice in the past few months.

KP is definitely very unpredictable and I think massively under-achieving, which sounds silly to say considering he's averaging over 50, but he could be a heck of alot better.

murali?

have I missed the half of his matches where a team easily played him (yes I know it has happened once or twice before we start siting individual instances, but taking 770 or whatever wickets at about 22 hardly smacks of inconsistent to me.) he has lots of variety, but they're all good. it would be same as choosing tendulkar because half the time he plays to the leg side.

Lol posts say that KP is unpredictable, but the poll says another story.;)

I got a question. Why is Hooper there, what was so unpredictable about him.

Yeah,
Hooper was always a predictable, assured, conservative batsman.

I would include Moin Khan in the list.
Some times he would look stupid with a bat in his hand.. at times he would just go murder the bowling attack.

Kamran Akmal's unpredictable as well, will look like a star with the gloves and score a 100 in the same game, and another time he will get out for 0 and drop 3 catches.
