I had full Dragon Ball Z episodes on my PC, yesterday my bro came to my house and wanted to install a game and I was out of Disk space so he deleted my DBZ folder :crying now I want all the data back. Any suggestion for softwares.

All files were in .rmvb format

Try Drive Rescue, a freeware software. If that doesnt work, I am afraid you'll have to go with R-Studio and buy it. R-Studio is really efficient though.

Considering you had not much space I rekon your data is gone for good. When you delete something it is still there in drive but you just dont see it. If the new data you wrote overrode that area then it cannot be recovered no matter how effective or expensive the software you use.

I am having a problem with this recovery since all files have .rmvb extension many of the software aren't able to find it. The files were stored in a folder named Dragon Ball Z. softwares which I tried do show the Dragon Ball Z folder but doesn't show any files inside it how come ?

Yeah I had all my games folders deleted once. I just had to re-install it all. i tried a few data recovery programmes but nothing that was free worked :(

Did you use the advance scan method? Thats a must to recover files. Dont use just browsing folders. Do an advanced scan. And when you see those silly named folders, open and check each one of them, because its not necessary that the folder would show up with the same name.

How to perform a advance scan in it ?

As Sid says, its probably gone as you said it was deleted because there wasn't any space on the hard drive. Hence the game your 'bro' installed is now occupying the space that your data previously was.

No he didn't install the game. instead he waited for me to arrive When I came he told me that my drives were full and he had deleted some of the files in my F: drive. Thats how it goes. I also recovered one file using R-Studio which Kshitiz mentioned but I can't play it Media Player Classic says cannot render the file. Win Media Player says file not supported or corrupted.
