hey guys here i have a prob

the USB ports of my comp r not working
when i insert a pen drive the green lite on it turns on but it is not detected by the comp

same is the case for a USB Joystick

n also for printer
plzz help guys

n one more thing guys my exams r gonna ed on 28th i'm confused should i buy a game console (which one?) or upgrade my gfx card

Right click on my computer, and select properties.
click on Hardware Tab
Click on device Manager

In the list of Universal Serial Bus Controllers - Check to see if any item has a yellow exclamation mark on its icon.
also check for a red mark.

If any of these are there, it is probably an error in the driver, and not the hardware itself.

Use the motherboard cd or any cd which accompanied your computer, and contains the relevant drivers, to reinstall the USB drivers.

Is it USB 2.0 or 1.1 ?? Sometimes, 1.1 has driver problems....

Regarding the gaming console.. What are your current system specs? Only upgrading the graphics card may not help to get the maximum gaming experience.

dude I also have P IV 2.66Ghz but I don't think It provides great gaming experience for latest games. for e.g Test Drive : Unlimited needs a 2.4 Ghz min of processor. you need are core 2 duo and atleast a 2.40 Ghz of speed. I recommend getting a Xbox 360 or PS3 instead.

If you want a gaming sys then you have to upgrade your PC every year or two. best way get a HDTV and a Gaming console.

Hmmmm. Download the Intel Chipset INF latest version and install it. If it still doesn't solve the problem, In device manager, uninstall all the USB thingys and reboot.

If it still doesnt work, then try reinstalling service pack 2.

If it still doesnt work, then probably your motherboard's the culprit.

And regarding the upgradation, I need your budget. If you're really tight but want the best to last atleast 3 years, go for this combo.

Intel Pentium E2160
Biostar TP35D2-A7
Evga or MSI or Palit 9600GT

The combo would cost you around Rs 17000 - Rs 18000. The processor overclocks like mad and can easily give you great performance with that motherboard.

I'm not too sure about the palit cards.. are they good enough??
i have one, and i'm not too particularly impressed..

Dunno, but palit is one of the companies who's offering reasonably priced 9600GT's(Around 10000)

Guess what guys, EVGA is the newest arrival in India! Finally, though the stocks will take some 15 days to come.
