Croft departs but Hughes and Cherry carry on the hard work
Jonathan Agnew: Aziz, last ball of the over, Croft drives in the air, this should be out, it is, caught by Omar at long on, and the Croft onsluaght is over
Geoff Boycott: You half saw it coming, the over after his 50, he looked a bit frustrated by Aziz, and he went, so well bowled Aziz, but well played Croft, an amazing assault on the Bangladeshi bowlers, a bit of luck at times, but well played, giving Wales a really good start
Jonathan Agnew: Mortaza in, short, and cut away by Cherry, four runs, nice shot
Geoff Boycott: Yes it's a nice shot, but that is very poor delivery by Mortaza, short and wide, and sat up to be hit
Jonathan Agnew: Manjural Islam in, and Hughes finely clips that for four, down the leg side, and it beats third man to the fence
Geoff Boycott: Nice little shot, walks across his stumps and beats Mashud, a nice little clip, all it needed, to send it on it's way. A partnership has formed now between these two, it's looking good at the moment for the Welsh good start, and at a good rate, has set the foundations
and a couple overs later Wales reached... BAN 117-1(19)
Jonathan Agnew: Islam runs in, Cherry cuts in the air! Out! Caught by Razzak, at point, slightly mistimed, in the air, and a simple catch. 117-2
Geoff Boycott: Well a bit of a lucky wicket, not a great ball, strange almost a tennis ball like bounce, and he slapped in the air, easy catch. A good 59 run partnership, but comes to an end, a start for Cherry, he will be dissapointed to get out, especially like that
Jonathan Agnew: Fourth ball of this over by Manjural Islam, bowls on the stumps, flicked, and out! Hughes a leg glance, in the air and easy catch for Tareq Aziz. 122-3
Geoff Boycott: That is a daft way to get out, on his legs, there to hit, and he hits it straight to the man, shouldn't even be in air really. and HUghes departs soon after Cherry, as often the way with partnerships
Jonathan Agnew: So last ball of this over, and oh another wicket! Almost an exact replica of Hughes dismissal a couple of balls ago, chipped on his legs straight to Aziz again. O'Shea departs for a two ball duck on his debut, 122-4 now.
Geoff Boycott: Funny how things can change in a few overs isn't it Aggers. A real daft shot in itself, but when you have just seen your teammate go the same way a few balls before even more so. I think ther may have been a bit of deception there though from Islam, he may have taken the pace of that delivery, which may have led to it, but still daft shot Aggers
Wallace goes after a start, but Powell continues on
Manjural Islam bowls, and Wallace slashes that one away, square drive, and races towards the fence
Geoff Boycott: Poor delivery, and got the treatment it deserved by Wallace. A good start from this lad, and with Powell, just need to be sensible and carry this momentum on
Jonathan Agnew: Mahmud in, and oh! He is bowled! Wallace shouldered his arms to that delivery, no stroke at all, risky, and it proved, the ball hitting top of off stump. 155-5
Geoff Boycott: Well that was bizarre. Why did he do that? It was a good start by him, then just an awful misjudgement, They don't need that. I think it was last over I said they need to play sensible cricket. Daft cricket.
Jonathan Agnew: Fourth ball of this, the 40th over, and Powell drives, what a beauty of a shot, on the back foot, and drives picturesquely for four, straight down the ground.
Geoff Boycott: Lovely shot Aggers, not that bad a delivery to be fair, but it was fine shot. He is now playing himself in, nearing a well deserved fifty, he has played a captain's innings so far, in a crisis, but he needs to be there at the end. Indeed along with Thomas who has played well and been good, crucial support for Powell. He looks in great touch at the moment though the captain.
Jonathan Agnew: Razzaq in, and Powell pushes down the ground for two, and that is his fifty, that is a crucial knock again by the captain, to put Wales on course for victory
Geoff Boycott: Good knock son, now he needs to make sure he stays in and guide his team to victory
Jonathan Agnew: Sarkar, second ball of the over, and whoah! A big heave ho by Powell, and siz! Into the stands! Wales starting to go into the winning strait now
Geoff Boycott: A lovely shot. The great thing about that shot was that it was controlled and technically brilliant, not just a slog.
Jonathan Agnew: Fourth ball of Sarkar's over, and he's out, Thomas is out, he tried to guide the shortish ball where the slips would be, but only succeded in edging to Khaled Mashud. 221-6
Geoff Boycott: Big wicket, they would have preferred the wicket of Powell, but still it is big, because it looked like Wales were about to run away with it, but now they have been pulled back a bit, because it now exposes the tail with Steffan Jones coming in
nice updates man but i think there is a mistake. see at the bottom of the updates u are updating BAN score while Wales are batting.
back to the match Wales should score more than 250 on this pitch.
Jonathan Agnew: Sarkar in and Powell drives, and it gets through the infield, the chase is on, but it beats the fielder to the fence. Another boundary, Wales inching towards victory. 227-6 now, 22 needed off 28
Geoff Boycott: Lovely on drive there, he looks in great touch, and really you have to say Wales look favourites. Bangladesh need a wicket quick, if they are going to have any chance.
Jonathan Agnew: Razzaq trots in, 3 needed, Steffan Jones facing, and it goes down the legside, he flicks it, oh this could go for four, yes it will, and Wales win by 4 wickets!
Geoff Boycott: A reasonably comfortable victory in the end, they bowled reasonably well, despite a great performance by Sarkar, and Croft set them off to a flier in the chase, and from then on they looked more likely than not to win.
Jonathan Agnew: And there Powell jumps and punches the air, he had a big hand in the victory, 78 not out, coming back from that dramatic defeat, with his effort there being in vain, this will mean as much to him, perhaps more as he celebrates Wales's first ever ODI victory.
WAL 250-6 (48.2)
Powell 78(82)
Jones 8(13)
