Watson as test opener?

Watson shouldn't be playing cricket man.

He is useless. Too injury prone, I dont know why the selectors love him. He is no Freddie Flintoff.

Marsh Pomersbach and Ronchi are the future.

I was just about to say, your a legend when I saw the Watson thing but after I saw the Ronchi thing I couldn't believe it.

Hes had a good ODI series, that means nothing! Everyone that has only seen him in the ODI series thinks he is great but he is nowhere near as good as Haddin. Haddin is one of the best batters going around the domestic scene, let alone easily the best keeper.

I have watched WA play before, he is a good state player. He is young, he can improve.

Haddin is better, but you cannot deny that he is ageing.

He has no tempermant. It would have been a OD game if you saw it on tv so it was probably just another of his slog fests.

Haddin is ageing? He is only 30. Ronchi is 27 too, so they are only 3 years apart.

Give Watson some credit he has the technique to make it on his batting alone. I agree hes injury prone and if he breaks down again I'll throw him in the scrap heap.

I don't think he's good enough to open in a test match, but I've seen crazier things work.

Would be good idea trying him as openor in India series. We can be gauranteed cheap wicket early then. ;)

Knowing our luck we'll topple Hayden early and Watson will go on to get a big double hundred :p

He certainly won't be opening against you guys :) If hes getting ducks against our domestic bowlers I'll hate to see what he'll be doing in India.

LOL! If he opened against India he wouldn't make a 50 all series.

Not if Pathan is playing... Pathan will happily give 50 runs in 2 overs. In fact, just to be a generous host, he'll throw in some no balls and wides, just for Watson :).

Wow! How generous. I guess its just called giving the amuteurs a fair go. :) :p

No! The only room for him is opener, and hes not good enough there!

Jaques
Rogers/Katich (When Hayden retires)
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Symonds
Haddin
Lee
Clark
Casson
Hily/Bollinger/Noffke (Noffke would be at 7) /Inness

That would be my lineup.
Inness? Matthew Inness? Seriously? I think that Siddle has to come into contention as well, just needs an injury free season to prove himself, but he's shown a lot.

Well, I didn't know who it was but I knew 1 or 2 Victorians had a great season. Must have bee Siddle lol. Didn't Inness be gun a few years back then?

Watson, Hodge, Katich, Pomersbach, Dave Hussey & Haddin are all better batsman then Rogers and should all be given Test opportunities before him.

Don't get all the hatred towards Watson, his a great batsman and his bowling is almost as good as Mitchell Johnson's (albeit pretty feeble).
