However when he does return, opening possibly could be place to accommodate him. After all Fulton is the least talented player of their current top 7.

Yet since his return he has the most centuries, second most runs, and third best average.

----------

Interesting since his return we've actually been very good statistically, but are still yet to win. Top seven (with Williamson) have all averaged over 35, and Boult/Southee/Wagner have all averaged under 32. The only problem has really been our spinner, although Williamson's taken 14 wickets at under 30.

Word, so when Ryder comes back, likely for the Indian tests, how do you envision your top 6 looking?

I don't really see any room for him atm, unless like you say they bring him in to open, but I think that's quite unlikely given that he hasn't opened much before in FC cricket. Unless one of the current top six gets three very low scores to round out the WI series, I can't see much changing.

Was busy from 10.30 to 11.30 so missed it all. Turned on the radio to hear "first boundary of the innings" and was like wtf.

Boult was amazing but lets not forget he was down wind. Wagner and Southee had it real tough from the other end, must have peeved Southee off a bit being the more senior bowler you'd assume he would choose. Really great win though, Andersons bowling ended up being incredibly useful.

good win by NZ. taylor was world class, finally, and their pace department is nicely stocked right now.

the west indies just look miles off the pace these days.

NZ are improving ever so slightly. Bolt/Southee remind me of the GeoffAllot/Dion Nash new ball pair of the late 90s/early 200s - dangerous swing bowlers.

But it was only last year in the Caribbean Windies beat NZ 2-0. Granted, NZ were a bit under strength with the bat, but the bowling attack is just about the same really.

Windies obviously are a poor test team - but ability wise they are on the same level as NZ IMO, so how do they get trashed just as badly as India beat them??

Maybe it was the swing of NZ conditions compared to last year, but i think the deeper reasons is their selectors which seem very clueless:

- They keep picking Sammy is test when he is not a test cricketer

- Lead bowler Roach is out, but yet Rampaul is back fit but they only picking him in ODI's. What does that mean, is he not for tests or do they somehow only view him as a ODI bowler only now?

- I heard Simon Doul saying on commentary a few times how glad NZ batsmen are that Narine isn't playing - yet the windies selectors have him on the bench.

- How could they be picking the horribly out of form Gabriel & not Jason Holder who has been bowling well all year in ODI's.

Crazy stuff. Cricket Selectors are like football managers, if they don't pick the right team balance - opposition will obviously take advantage of the weaknesses created.

What a performance, we've just been so dominant this series so hopefully they can get the job done in Hamilton.

Trent Boult is a brilliant bowler. He is not express but he is very accurate with decent pace and his ability to swing the ball back into the right handers is absolutely amazing to see. I saw him first time against England last year and he looked very good even on those flat pitches.

Can't believe how flat the pitch is, saw a pic of it a couple of days ago and it was as green as the outfield. Do have to wonder why McCullum bowled first, especially seeing as they've got a heap of spinners.

Yeah, no idea why he bowled first when we've put 600 and 400 on them batting first in the first two Tests, both of which were more bowler friendly. Have some confidence in our top order to get the job done again, and shut the West Indies out of the series with another big first innings.
