The main reason for joining this forum was EA Sport's popular video game Cricket 07. I had the game so I just thought of searching a few videos over the YouTube and when I looked at it I found that there were some videos where the faces of players were real and jerseys were all updated to the latest version. So I did Google search and came to know that there is a community who makes all these patches and all and it was this site. So I joined in over here. I would most be visiting each and every thread of the Cricket 07 forums. And I mostly used to download the stuffs which were made by @MattW , @Addy , @Ahad , @kingston Charles aka Charu as these guys were really good at it and I loved their stuffs. But after some years later because of games like DBC14 and all most of the modders left Cricket 07 modding. I started having shortage of new mods and that is where I decided to learn modding and today I have my own Cricket 07 downloads thread.
So that's how it happened.

3 versions:

VERSION 1: Before 2014,
So PlanetCricket was a renowned name in the online cricket fraternity long since. I used to look at the website, without making any account though as that forum look wasn't as minimalist as it is today so it was too confusing for someone my age then.

VERSION 2: Story when I made a PC account in 2014,
Leagues and managing teams and simulation cricket games fascinated me. There weren't any good cricket manager games anywhere, so I really enjoyed to manage teams in leagues this way via forums.

I was already a part of another forum which ran leagues on a grand level like 8 teams with multiple real players (5-6) in each who manage the teams and franchise throughout the year. Every month there is a new FTP, so teams remain same through out, the formats/tournament changes. There were bilateral series, T20 Boom(WC), CWC, Top 3 World Series, etc. And just like ICC, there were OD Rankings, T20 Rankings, etc for these teams. We were an active community of around 40 to 50 players. It was a strong online extended cricket family.

They used PCCS Simulator first, then they moved to CWSim

Unfortunately though, that forum got dead as people moved on with their life and they got busy.

So I made a PC account to find the same over here, a new similar life which can fulfill my same desires.

Unfortunate again, that point of time, activity was at its peak over here and unlike that forum, hence I tried to enroll in leagues over here but was sidelined and not picked as first preference was given to already established members. So as a newbie here, times were tough in 2014. For me atleast.

Also, leagues were solitary over here and mostly a single player managed entire team than 4 to 5 players coming together and taking care of a franchise. Yes there is PCPL, TPCL etc, but its a one off event. There it was an year round thing.

VERSION 3: 2020,
So cut to 2020, it is lockdown and I was in search of something to pass time by into something I enjoyed. Since March to June, I tried binge watching and many other things, but then in late late June, I some how got back to PC, I was just surfing over the net and Eureka, I remember about this forum. Co-indecently, the forum was still active and running even though the activity was reduced.

I tried to come here few times in the day and post in threads, just look around what is going on and stuff.

Then, slowly, I found there are some co-manager spots available in few leagues.

So I got to co-manage with @Hamza2000 in PCWS hosted by @Rabbit Hood

Then after a few days, I saw this drafts thing and found it fascinating,
was again assisted by @qpeedore , @Yash. , @Bevab and some few others
I started taking part there.

Then came the BIG LEAP - TPCL was announced.

Initially, I thought I will join as a player and thought that will I even be taken by a team. :p

Then suddenly, things happened, I asked @RUDI a question as I only saw @CerealKiller being the lone owner of Wildcats, whereas,
Lannisters had @RUDI , @Till Valhalla and @The Real Modi
Rebelz had @AliB , @PresidentEvil
Mavericks, the new team, also had @Life Warrior , @VDQuint
So, then I casually approached @CerealKiller that if you want a co-owner I can come on board, didn't expect that it will actually happen :D
Suprisingly, he said yes and hola... I am suddenly the co-owner of a TPCL franchise, who hasnt even made his debut :p

Then I managed auctions, drafts, other things for TPCL and become an integral part of the forum.

Got vCash donations from @zwarrior @CerealKiller @Saffron @MattW for having team banners and what not :P

got custom title from @RUDI

I started team discussions with @CerealKiller , @Akshay. , @ahmedleo414 , @Manish. , @Bevab , @NaviN GandhI , @D.K. Goel , @Naman Thakur , @NePtuNe Gaming , @NilayShah60 etc

and befriended many more people here whom haven't even tagged yet :p
_______________
So that is my story how I got here and still a part of the forum! I knows its just 35 days since I made a comeback here, but it feels good to be here. And I feel everything I mentioned over here, is a strong key why I joined and like to stay as an active member over here.

There were leagues on PC with PC players managed by @Pinch hitter @VC the slogger and others, but the activity has reduced now so these leagues have not been started recently

I guess I'll just chip in as well.

So the story goes back to last year's May. Cricket 19 was just released and I rented it initially (only to purchase it later). I just randomly searched about Cricket 19 on the internet and PlanetCricket popped up. I spent the first 2 days lurking around without making an account.

Here comes June 1st, I make an account to request @Llewelynf to make some stuff in the academy for me. Afterwards, I made a thread in Cricket 19 section of the forum which was rightfully deleted by @Dutch as it violated forum rules (which I wasn't aware of).

Later on, unfortunately, I made a thread once again and conincidentally, it violated forum rules ONCE AGAIN. I had posted @wasteyouryouth's work without giving him any sort of credit (which was entirely wrong).

Due to my 'wonderful' actions, I was kind of ignored in the Cricket 19 forums for some time. In a desperate attempt, I moved over to General Chat, in a bid to avoid the the members of Cricket 19 forums.

Slowly the wounds of Cricket 19's forums healed and I was welcomed back there. I haven't looked back since and have been a fairly active member of all the forums since.

I wasn't so much into the player faces and kits etc but it was EA Cricket 07 that got me here, yes. I was looking for a real names patch. I did find it eventually, I think PlanetCricket had a separate download page for those things back in the day but you had to sign up for it.

Eventually I had gotten ICC 3 I think, and I was part of the Childish Things forum for a while (Chris Silverwood was a beast for me in my Middlesex game)...and I was still paying Cricket 07 but wanted a bit more...realism...found a few other patches on here...realised that there were people doing the same as I'd done with ICC, meaning that they were writing stories about their playthroughs. I was just a reader at first. Then I noticed a worrying trend, that guys would spend months between updates only to post a bunch of edited screenshots with like four lines of text and they would be getting rave reviews.

I figured I could do better.

And so I started my original Bangladesh story, which kinda lost a lot of momentum after my grandpa died and which itself died after computer issues. But by then I was a legit member. After reading the "You are the umpire" book and me creating the unofficial followup thread, I was about as much of a member as anyone.

I rarely post anywhere else except the cricket discussion threads, but that's preference.
