Keep in mind that at the beginning, I'd already installed a new CD-ROM drive, a new modem, a new monitor for my PC, and that's just the hardware. The amount of software hacks and installs I'd done would have run into the hundreds.

But installing a game patch? Nah, that seemed like Latin to me...thankfully I've learned some Latin over the years.

I had a specific issue in cricket 19 which was bothering me for the longest time ever. I decided to google it and a thread from planetcricket popped up. I saw the thread and closed the site. At night, I loaded up Cricket 19 and tested the solution but it did not work. I visited planet cricket again and made an account just to seek advice and closed the site again and decided to work on a project.

The next day, I was going back through the sites I had visited so that i could link the sites I used for the data in my project and saw planet cricket again. Being the distracted person that I was (and still am) decided to go through the Cricket 19 section to see what was there. I saw that wasteyouryouth was taking signups for a league and I knew him from the popular teams he had made in the academy. I signed up for it and it was one of the best tournaments I have ever played in till date.

After that I constantly lurked the website and saw TPCL and other leagues which I was interested in and joined them. I am beginning to understand the website and how it works now.

3 versions:

VERSION 1: Before 2014,
So PlanetCricket was a renowned name in the online cricket fraternity long since. I used to look at the website, without making any account though as that forum look wasn't as minimalist as it is today so it was too confusing for someone my age then.

VERSION 2: Story when I made a PC account in 2014,
Leagues and managing teams and simulation cricket games fascinated me. There weren't any good cricket manager games anywhere, so I really enjoyed to manage teams in leagues this way via forums.
I was already a part of another forum which ran leagues on a grand level like 8 teams with multiple real players (5-6) in each who manage the teams and franchise throughout the year. Every month there is a new FTP, so teams remain same through out, the formats/tournament changes. There were bilateral series, T20 Boom(WC), CWC, Top 3 World Series, etc. And just like ICC, there were OD Rankings, T20 Rankings, etc for these teams. We were an active community of around 40 to 50 players. It was a strong online extended cricket family.
They used PCCS Simulator first, then they moved to CWSim
Unfortunately though, that forum got dead as people moved on with their life and they got busy.
So I made a PC account to find the same over here, a new similar life which can fulfill my same desires.
Unfortunate again, that point of time, activity was at its peak over here and unlike that forum, hence I tried to enroll in leagues over here but was sidelined and not picked as first preference was given to already established members. So as a newbie here, times were tough in 2014. For me atleast.
Also, leagues were solitary over here and mostly a single player managed entire team than 4 to 5 players coming together and taking care of a franchise. Yes there is PCPL, TPCL etc, but its a one off event. There it was an year round thing.

VERSION 3: 2020,
So cut to 2020, it is lockdown and I was in search of something to pass time by into something I enjoyed. Since March to June, I tried binge watching and many other things, but then in late late June, I some how got back to PC, I was just surfing over the net and Eureka, I remember about this forum. Co-indecently, the forum was still active and running even though the activity was reduced.
I tried to come here few times in the day and post in threads, just look around what is going on and stuff.
Then, slowly, I found there are some co-manager spots available in few leagues.
So I got to co-manage with @Hamza2000 in PCWS hosted by @Rabbit Hood
Then after a few days, I saw this drafts thing and found it fascinating,
was again assisted by @qpeedore , @Yash. , @Bevab and some few others
I started taking part there.
Then came the BIG LEAP - TPCL was announced.
Initially, I thought I will join as a player and thought that will I even be taken by a team. :p
Then suddenly, things happened, I asked @RUDI a question as I only saw @CerealKiller being the lone owner of Wildcats, whereas,
Lannisters had @RUDI , @Till Valhalla and @The Real Modi
Rebelz had @AliB , @PresidentEvil
Mavericks, the new team, also had @Life Warrior , @VDQuint

So, then I casually approached @CerealKiller that if you want a co-owner I can come on board, didn't expect that it will actually happen :D
Suprisingly, he said yes and hola... I am suddenly the co-owner of a TPCL franchise, who hasnt even made his debut :p
Then I managed auctions, drafts, other things for TPCL and become an integral part of the forum.
Got vCash donations from @zwarrior @CerealKiller @Saffron @MattW for having team banners and what not :P
got custom title from @RUDI
and befriended many more people here whom haven't even tagged yet :p

_______________
So that is my story how I got here and still a part of the forum! I knows its just 35 days since I made a comeback here, but it feels good to be here. And I feel everything I mentioned over here, is a strong key why I joined and like to stay as an active member over here.
1.5 years since and Planet Cricket have made my leisure time much more better than before. So many interactions, so many new acquaintances, so much more growth and learning and so much fun.

Those who are not familier why I joined PlanetCricket here is a post of mine from a different thread

So well wow! I have officially completed 14 years on Planet Cricket. Its been a long journey and as I had promised earlier, will share my journey with everyone.

Introduction To Planet Cricket

I used to be part of one of the cricketing groups on Orkut back when it was a huge social media site (To be honest the best one). @Prithvi conducted an online league where people would participate in cricket league. I loved that idea.

So what I did is created my own group and conducted the first ever Cricket Premier League on Orkut. @Prithvi and I fought over how I copied his idea and now a mature me thinks it was copied from his idea. Season 1 was successful and back then clicking on ads would earn you some money. I had earned $100 and I gave $10 as prize money. WOW!

So moving on, I wanted to continue this and conduct season 2. Season 2 required more professionalism. So I searched how to change kits in ea sports 2007. The first site I see? Planet Cricket!!!!!

I joined Planet Cricket and posted for the very first time that I need 6 kits created replacing the Australian domestic setup. There was a member whom I do not know if he has changed his name known as M.A.D. He helped and I had patched kits for C07. This is how I found planet cricket and joined 10 years ago.

Journey Ahead

So now that I joined Planet Cricket, I saw what @Prithvi ran on Orkut was a copy of the site's own Cricket Leagues section. I was amazed and a 17 year old boy for whom internet was a pretty big deal 10 years back could now play virtual leagues. Also the quality and quantity of leagues were pretty great back in those days. I joined my first ever league in @Sartaj 's famous World Premier League if I am not wrong. Wow those were the days. I had a nokia cell phone in my early college years with EDGE(something less then 2G network speed) internet connectivity. I used to be so active to draft and auction players. It was amazing. With Sartaj's help I created my first ever Cricketing League here and to give users a good experience back then I used to live stream by sharing my desktop screen the simulation.

I made some wonderful friends here on PC mainly naming @Sartaj @Fenil @CG123, @hedger, @rizkhan. I had a very special friend @Mihir Doshi here who was my neighbor back in India. I remember how his death show how connected this community was.

The journey on PC saw the whole Sub Continent Issue. The admins and staff did a brilliant job in handling it as it was kind of riots here on PC. The sub continent issue was folks from sub continent whose English was not that strong being ridiculed by folks who first language is English. No I am not talking racism. The grown ups here were kids who got offended on the smallest thing. So the sarcasm of folks here was not taken nicely by SC folks and vice verse. In the end alls well that ends well.

Post the SC era came the era were we all started growing up, I moved to United States and life took a complete turn. More responsibility, new culture and more things to do in life. PC always that soft spot that you would tune into if you needed break. Facebook, Twitter and all were not so huge.

I remember @Rebel2k18 's Bangladesh story, @surendar's India's Story, @Trev's Australian or English story. What lovely times.

Not going to drag this longer but thank you Planet Cricket for all these wonderful 10 years here and I will always be appreciative. There is a lot you can learn even from a forum if you know what to look for. Time changes and people who started out as friends no longer visit here and my friends have changed.

With change in time I would like to thank @RUDI @SaiSrini @LiveLoveABD @Saroj padhy @Yash., @CerealKiller , @Na Maloom Afraad @Perfect Square @Pinch hitter, @asprin and many others for making this site fun in this current era.

I always miss @rahuldravidfan around, he was a good member.

Also thank you @MattW @zimrahil @barmyarmy and all others who have moderated me, infracted me and warned me. You all have done a solid job maintaining this site.

I joined here way back in April 2003 due to my interest in EA Cricket video game (I dont remember what version it was!) at that time!! Ah, those days of "peak level cricket fanaticism". I already had a lot of passion for writing (you can gauge that from the length of most of my posts! :D ) and I really enjoyed talking about the game and this forum was the perfect place to completely indulge in that!

Some reminiscing of my times with PC, in the below paragraphs - feel free to skip the below if you're bored of reading nostalgia or dont like reading paragraphs. :D

I even wrote a few "cricket story threads" where I'd narrate the story of cricket matches that I played on the EA Cricket platform (wow, I need to go back and see if I can dig up those threads; for nostalgia sake). Made a lot of friends during that process (there was one guy, who had a Md Kaif avatar (Fardin was his username) and he used to so passionately comment on my story threads and I used to do the same on his threads; came to know a few years later from someone in this forum that he passed away and I felt so damn sad; still remember him loads and hope he's in complete peace wherever he is).

Life changed and I sorta moved to the Cricket Discussion area where all the fun was, when it came to discussing all the games that India played. It was always a roller coaster where you'd agree, you'd disagree, you'd argue your guts out and then you'd just stay quiet when you dont have the energy to go forward. This forum just has a lot of passionate cricket lovers who always did not step out of the line of decency (still do - exteremely well moderated by all the admins and staff members). Life has changed my passion levels for cricket but I still haven't lost connect with this forum in all these 18 years and its always good to comeback and find some old timers and also some new guys who enjoy the game in different perspectives.

I joined to talk about Ashes 17, as I generally like to engage in a game's community when I play it.

I drifted away as I moved on from that game, but came back recently when I once again got into Cricket 22.

Occasionally I poke my head up from whatever little project I'm working on in Cricket 22 and have a nosey round the rest of the forum, marvelling at just how many amazing corners of awesomely dedicated content there are. From real cricket, fantasy leagues, regular chat, sports book stuff, plus all the gaming content, it really is brilliant community.
