1999 was the year for me, and I don't think I'll ever see one so sweet.

Australia won the Cricket World Cup.
Wallabies won the Rugby World Cup (and the Bledisloe Cup)
Manchester United won the Treble.
New York Yankees won the World Series (and David Cone pitched an perfect game for them)
North Melbourne won the AFL Premiership.

So, what's your greatest sporting year?

2006 - Freo Dockers winning their first final:p

never really had a single great year but

cricket - gotta be the ashes in 05

football - not much joy as a man city fan but 1999 when we won on pens at wembley to get promoted was a pretty special day, never thought id get to walk up the stairs in the twin towers but i will never forget it

rugby - well, the world cup in 2003, beating the aussies in australia! i was in work (in a shop at the time) and we had the first half on the radio but at half time my manager shut the shop and we went and watched the rest of the game at his, also 06 when sale won the Guinness Premiership was pretty great as well as i only live 10 mins away from the ground

Cricket - Ashes in 05, classic

Football - Last season Seeing Droylsden FC get promoted to the conference Premier for the first time in our history. :clap

2005. Ashes had a bad result but I have to admit I've never watched Test cricket so intensely. Sydney won the premiership. Hewitt got agonisingly close to the Australian Open win but just missed out, making it even funnier to watch.

i love this picture, obviously all aussies loved the result of the last ashes series, and if it was reversed i would love it, but as a sporting event it was quite dull due to england being pretty pathetic, everyone loved the 05 ashes as it was competative and really could of gone either way, i really hope the next ashes tour can be as intense

The 2005 ashes were great for me. Since i only got into cricket in 2004, it was the first ashes series I had watched live so it was great to see England finally bring home the ashes in most brilliant test series ever seen.

cricket-2005 obviously
football-1999, the greatest acheivement by any football side ever. Steve Waugh said watching that inspired him to win the world cup so thank united Aussies :p
