When do Old Threads get deleted?

Never. Threads exist until someone manually deletes them, or the forum that was holding them gets deleted (and normally posts are moved out of those before that happens).
 
I think too many posts increse the database size and its very difficult to transfer database if it is of big size:eek:.
 
The benefits of having old posts available far outweighs the problems about having a large database. We have a lot of space on the server to compensate, and the majority of that comes from the patches we host here, not from the posts table, which is only 465.2 MiB large.

What? vBulletin does compress really well then. :p
 
In case you were wondering because threads 'disappear' after a while (depending on the forum), they are still there, you just need to change the cutoff date. Scroll down in the forum page to the 'Display Options' where you can change the option 'From the' to 'Beginning' to see all threads, or just anything you feel like.
